Gufram Pratone Forever Greener Chaise Lounge by Ceretti, Derossi & Rosso
By Riccardo Rosso, Piero Derossi and Giorgio Ceretti, Gufram Furniture
Located in La Morra, Cuneo
PRATONE® FOREVER is the version which was born to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the timeless icon PRATONE®, a myth which reinvents itself and becomes eternal, approaching the dimension of furnishing more and more. While maintaining its soft polyurethane soul – a material which has always characterized Gufram products – PRATONE® FOREVER changes its “skin”: originally covered in Guflac®, the special paint invented and patented by the company to coat its creations in polyurethane while still maintaining their softness and elasticity, this special edition is covered in an elastic wool bouclé fabric that adheres perfectly to the eccentric forms of this out of the ordinary chair, ensuring excellent resistance to wear and tear. Please note: this piece is on exhibition only at the 1stdibs Gallery. Purchased pieces will be shipped directly from our production site in Italy. Production lead times are often flexible and stock levels vary. Materials: Settee in soft polyurethane upholstered with bouclé wool. Variations: We have 3 colour variations of our Pratone Forever...

Opinion Ciatti Tab.u Large Stool
By Bruno Rainaldi, Opinion Ciatti
Located in Brooklyn, NY
Take a wooden frame, cover it in aluminium and then work its surface, ""scrunch” it by hand to achieve a crimpled profile. This is the process at the core of the Tab.u collection, stools and tables with absolutely distinctive lines. The Tab.u large stool is a traditional tall bar stool. It is perfect in any environment and for all uses: around the table for an unexpected guest, in the bathroom to rest objects or towels, in the living room when there is no more room on the sofa or in the bedroom instead of the usual bedside table. It is stunning around a counter or a kitchen island, both at home or in the most glamorous clubs. The family is complete with the addition of the Tab.u mirror and the Tab.u lamp...

Mike Hexagonal Stool or Side Table in Reclaimed Oak with Butterfly Wingnuts
By Fred&Juul
Located in Fiesole, Florence
Mike was born out of a geometrical game of combining rhombi. 12 wooden elements with rhombus-shaped tops are assembled with handmade brass butterfly wing bolts to form a stool or side table. Two, three or even more pieces, with their hexagonal top and star-shaped base, can be united to form a coffee table or bench. Handmade by master craftsmen in Tuscany, Italy. The 12 elements are screwed together instead of glued so the rhombi are perceived as individual parts. The oakwood is reclaimed from old Italian wine barrels...

Vico Magistretti Set of Two Red Selene Chairs by Artemide 1970s
By Artemide, Vico Magistretti
Located in Montecatini Terme, IT
A set of two Selene stackable chairs in red resin reinforced with fiberglass, designed by Vico Magistretti in 1967 and produced by Artemide Milano in the 1970s. The Selene chair was designed in 1967 by Magistretti to be produced in a plastic material, as he affirmed: "The seat and the back are simple curved surfaces. For me, the legs represented the real image of the piece, with as small a volume as that of any common wooden chair. I solved it by exploiting the molding of a plastic material formed by a simple 3-millimeter-thick sheet with a simple but very resistant "S" cross-section which inter-related the object with ordinary chairs without however the elephant legs so untypical of chairs. It was fun working with the model maker on the wood model." When produced in series, "a unit comes out of the machine every five minutes": Selene is the fruit of a single compression molding process on a pre-impregnated sheet (Ottagono 15 / 1969). Magistretti solves the problem of leg resistance by adopting an "S-shaped" configuration that confers resistance to a sheet only 3 millimeters thick. The formal and structural solution had already been previously adopted for the Chimera lamp (a self-supporting methacrylate sheet) and in developing the legs of the Demetrio table...

20TH Century, Twelve Italian Wrought Iron Garden Chairs
By John Salterini, Mario Papperzini
Located in IT
20TH Century, Twelve Italian Wrought Iron Garden Chairs Measurements: cm H 97,5 x W 47,5 x D 58. Seat: cm H 50 x D 45 x W 45 This series of twelve outdoor chairs, rare to find in this issue, was made in Italy around the middle of the 20th century, in hand-forged wrought iron. The elegant reinterpretation of the classic garden furniture models is inspired by the design of Mario Papperzini for John Salterini who found great demand in America and Europe, especially in France and Italy. The iron elements, square section, draw a graceful and soft line and end at the top with brass knobs. Back and seat are composed of iron elements that are intertwined in a lattice emphasizing the austerity and simplicity of the whole. Very decorative is the system of support of the chairs consisting of curved iron legs and joined together by a crossbar on which rest the semicircle elements of the upper structure. Papperzini’s highly appreciated design is here interpreted with taste and elegance, proposing a line of chairs always suitable for any outdoor environment, such as a terrace, garden and patio, but also indoors. John Salterini, an Italian immigrant to New York, formed his own company in 1934 after the dissolution of Salterini & Gallo, of which he was a partner, which produced wrought iron articles. The post-war boom led to the expansion of homes in the USA, whose owners wanted to own large patios that had to be furnished with elegant outdoor furniture. Salterini managed to offer them some of the most refined outdoor furniture of the time. Throughout his career, Salterini designed and produced a wide range of furniture, from tables and chairs to chaise longues, poufs and benches...
