Il rosone policromo Archetipo Mediterraneo è realizzato interamente a mano con materiali antichi e pregiati come il vetro e il mosaico. La stella a otto punte nasce dalla fusione tra il quadrato e il cerchio ed è un simbolo mandalico che racchiude in sé l'origine del mondo e rappresenta il percorso alchemico che conduce dalla materia allo spirito. La quadratura del cerchio è l'emblema della rigenerazione spirituale. L’alternarsi concentrico dei sette colori della luce solare, si ricollega alla tradizione ermetica del numero sette e alle filosofie tardo-rinascimentali. Massimo Caiazzo (Napoli 1966) è un esperto di progettazione cromatica, che affianca all'esperienza accademica la progettazione “sensibile” della luce e del colore nei settori dell’architettura, del design, della moda e della comunicazione. Presidente di IACC Italia, sede di International Association of Colour Consultant, fondata nel 1957 a Hilversum e citata dalla Fondazione Munsell tra le quattro migliori scuole di colore del mondo. Docente a tempo indeterminato di Cromatologia presso l'Accademia di Verona dal 2003 al 2015, tiene corsi sul colore nella progettazione presso alla SPD (Scuola Politecnica di Design Milano), alla Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA) e alla Domus Academy di Milano. La sua formazione sul colore è iniziata all'Atelier Mendini di Milano (1990-2006), dove ha fatto parte del team guidato dal designer e artista Alessandro Mendini, maestro della policromia. Bertoli The two portraits examined here are by the hand of the artist Antonio Bertoli, a painter active in Florence between 1829 - 1842. He trained at the Florentine Academy, where in 1832 he obtained the prize for the nude in drawing. At the academic exhibitions of the following years he exhibited mainly portraits, including a representation of Nicolò Macchiavelli executed in 1837. An eclectic artist, he experimented with different genres: for the Villa Puccini di Scornio in Pistoia, in 1838, he was commissioned to create a history picture, The death of Francesco Ferrucci (Pistoia, Civic Museum), inspired by an episode of the novel Siege of Florence by Francesco Domenico Guerrazzi. Instead, two religious paintings date back to the 1840s: Christ chasing the merchants from the Temple and a Virgin Mary, In the portraits analyzed Bertoli depicts two half-length women taken from a foreshortening and a frontal in close pose, characterized by very similar Mediterranean features. George Lance (24 March 1802 – 18 June 1864) was an English painter of still life and portrait miniatures. Lance was born at the old manor-house in Little Easton in Essex. His father was William Lance who had previously served in a regiment of light horse and was at the time of Lance's birth an adjutant in the Essex yeomanry; he later became the inspector of the Bow Street horse-patrol. His mother, Louisa Lucy (née) Constable, with whom his father had eloped from boarding-school, was the daughter of Colonel Constable of Beverley in Yorkshire. Although Lance showed a predilection for art at a very early age, he was placed, while not yet fourteen, in a factory in Leeds. However, the work injured his health and he returned to London. Wandering one day into the British Museum, he casually started a conversation with Charles Landseer, who happened to be drawing there. On learning that Landseer was a pupil of Benjamin Haydon, he went early next morning to that painter's residence, and asked to become a pupil. Haydon replied that if his drawings promised future success he would instruct him for nothing. Not many days later Lance, still not yet fourteen, entered Haydon's studio, and remained there for seven years, at the same time studying in the schools of the Royal Academy. While designing a picture inspired by Homer's Iliad, he decided, before putting on the colours, to paint some fruit and vegetables as practice. This work attracted the notice of Sir George Beaumont, who purchased it, and this success led him to paint another fruit-piece, which he sold to the Earl of Shaftesbury.
