Located in Topeka, KS
Awesome mid-century modern to post-modern purple striped multi-piece modular club chair. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. By Harvey Probber
Located in Topeka, KS
Magnificent vintage MCM (a.k.a. Mid-Century Modern) to Modern Harvey Probber orange tuxedo style 1571 club chairs with black painted sleigh bases, a pair. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that they are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. They have been professionally shampooed and are in wonderful condition. There is a slight sun fading to the fabric that cannot be detected unless you remove the cushions, and we did some slight touch up to the legs. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 1970’s.
Are oranges named oranges because oranges are orange OR is orange called orange because oranges are orange??? Hmmmmmmm???? We may never know… BUT we DO know that this pair of orange club chairs by Harvey Probber is PHENOMENAL!!! Double your seating pleasure with this dynamic duo comprised of fully upholstered tuxedo style frames, deep seats hosting loose zippered foam filled seat and back cushions, fabulous black painted sleigh bases, PLUS they are wearing their original orange large weave hopsacking fabric. WOW!! They are stunning in their simplicity, extremely comfortable, and ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!! They will be fabulous in the corner of your bedroom, in the living room across from your sofa, in the sitting room with a wonderful accent table in between, or in the den facing the fireplace. They are mid-century modern with a modern feel and will blend in beautifully with many styles of décor. This pair of club chairs is ready to be your new favorite vintage pieces and make a bold statement in any room you choose!
Harvey Probber was born on September 17, 1922, in Brooklyn, New York. He began his love for furniture early and while attending high school he took a part-time job in a used furniture store and was inspired to try his hand at drawing ideas for furniture. Probber sold his first sofa design when he was just 16, for $10. After high school graduation, he accepted a job as designer for Trade Upholstery which was a small manufacturing facility. The 1940’s was the beginning of American modernism, a time characterized by young designers with talent, initiative, and a willingness to take risks with new ideas. Probber was one of an early band of pioneer designers in a field that included iconic names such as D.J. DePree of Herman Miller, Hans Knoll, Georg Tanier, and Jack Lenor Larsen. Probber established Harvey Probber, Inc., in 1945 and in the mid years of the twentieth century, Harvey Probber became one of America's leading designers. He favored exotic woods, highly polished lacquer, hand-rubbed finishes, and extravagant upholstery fabrics. In little over a decade, Harvey Probber, Inc. became one of the country’s leading contemporary furniture firms. His most significant design breakthrough was his modular seating concept. It was the first of its kind. He also introduced the “sling chair” and “nuclear furniture” which could be clustered and had interchangeable pieces. By the 1970s, Harvey Probber, Inc. had opened trade showrooms in major design centers across the country. His work was awarded two "Best of Neocon" Gold Awards from the Resources Council of the Institute of Business Designers for the Houston Chair...

Vintage Mid-Century Modern Club Lounge Chair by Flair Division for Bernhardt
By Bernhardt
Located in Topeka, KS
Handsome Mid-Century Modern club chair or lounge chair from the Flair Division of Bernhardt Furniture. It is in wonderful vintage condition and wearing its original light turquoise blue nubby fabric. It has been professionally cleaned but the fabric does have fading as you would expect and there are still stains but no holes or tears. It will be at its best recovered. It is priced accordingly. Please see photos, circa 1960s.
I must tell you when we walked into the home where we obtained this chair and many of our other recent and soon to be offerings, I thought if I was ever going to faint this is the time. Of course, the house itself blew me away and then……the original furniture and art in all its glory. This chair is part of a three-piece living room suite by Bernhardt Furniture Flair Division and we are offering all three pieces this week. This club chair with its Lawson styling and loose cushions is really comfy; plus, it is held up off the floor with a fabulous base. The base or legs are comprised of a pair of walnut planks turned upright and running from front to back on each side of the chair. Simple yet dynamic.
Bernhardt Furniture was established in 1889 by John Mathias Bernhardt and has been going strong for over 125 years. He spent many years out west in Oregon Territory. After a serious illness, traveling back home to Lenoir, North Carolina and working as a logger in the densely forested foothills of Grandfather Mountain...

Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 1970’s.
What a delightful, debonaire, square cube chair!!! Isn’t it gorgeous? We certainly think so!! This is a handsome cube chair by iconic designer Maurice Villency wearing a fabulous black vinyl on the frame of the chair and button tufted black faux leather on the loose seat and back cushions. It has deep wide seating capacity and features low chrome legs with a stretcher and a unique turned diagonal design with the point of the square of the legs facing out creating a diamond look…. It’s STUNNING!! It bares a timeless, classic appearance sure to bring a splash of modern excellence to any room! Maurice Villency began designing in the 1950’s at his own furniture loft in Greenwich Village, New York. He was born in Glasgow Scotland, the son of a cabinet maker and at the age of 19 he moved to the United States with his family and introduced Scandinavian Modern furniture with one of his first successes being a sectional. He worked for the Pullman Couch company where he quickly became head designer and plant manager until he relocated to Chicago in the 60’s and set up his own studio. Maurice Villency’s sectional...

Modern Carter Club Chair Attr Zen Collection Bright Red with Polished Steel Legs
By Carter Furniture 1
Located in Topeka, KS
Stunning late 20th to early 21st century Modern Carter Furniture club chair attributed to Zen Collection fully upholstered in bright red euro suede with polished steel legs. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. The fabric on upper back corner on back had a spot where the metal edging rubbed through fabric. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Late 20th to Early 21st Century.
Bright Red Chair…. EXTRORDINAIRE!!!!! WOW!!! We are in LOVE with this beauty!!! This is a BEAUTIFUL club chair by Carter fully upholstered in a fabulous bright red ultra soft “euro suede” fabric. It has a very deep T style foam seat cushion with poly on top and bottom but not the edges, an upholstered back support which holds the loose zippered poly wrapped foam back cushion, and it stands upon four squared & slightly tapered polished steel legs. We are attributing this chair to their Zen Collection as its design is much like the “Zen sofa” currently offered by Carter and though it’s technically Modern it will go really well with Postmodern décor too. It’s very comfortable, very bright, and very much NEEDS to be your new favorite vintage piece! It would be amazing in a corner of your bedroom or dressing area, in the living room across from your sofa, in your sitting room beside a wonderful accent table, or in the study flanking the fireplace. It bares the perfect POP of color for any room and it’s sure to be a fabulous conversation piece!
Carter furniture has been in business since 1976 and was purchased by Directional Furniture in 2009 however, Carter functions independently under the Directional management team. Manufacturing of Carter products is in Directional facilities located in Thomasville, North Carolina. Tomlinson/Erwin Lambeth is the parent company of Directional and they run much like a family of companies. Carter is acknowledged as one of America’s best-known contemporary seating companies with an impeccable reputation and a focus on quality and a loyal client base.

Pair Mid-Century Modern - Modern Parson’s Cube Club Chairs Houndstooth Fabric
By Milo Baughman
Located in Topeka, KS
Handsome vintage mid-century modern to modern Parson’s style cube club chairs wearing houndstooth fabric a pair. Good condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. There are stains and wear on the front of the arms and bottom of the legs, and even though they have been professionally shampooed there are stubborn areas that just won’t come clean, and most will want to reupholster. We would just make arm covers in a contrasting fabric and keep this awesome houndstooth. But we have priced them accordingly. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 1960-1970’s.
AAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Aren’t you IN LOVE???? Well, we certainly are!!! This is a fabulous pair of Parson’s style cube club chairs wearing a DEVILISHLY dashing houndstooth fabric!!!! Ok, yes… the fabric has a few flaws here and there… and kind of everywhere! LOL, But it’s VINTAGE… AND it is SO gorgeous that we would use them exactly as they are!! It would be cool to have arm covers made in a contrasting fabric and keep this awesome houndstooth. But some may call us crazy! Ha-ha! They’re so comfortable, and they have SO MUCH character!! They are comprised of a wonderful, squared frame… and the square legs are also upholstered much like a Parson’s style chair, but they are also cube shaped with their arms being the same height as the back… so they are also cube club style chairs. SO MUCH STYLE!!! They have loose seat and back foam filled cushions and are gushing with superb comfort!! Their style borders between mid-century modern to modern but we think they will blend in beautifully with many styles of décor. They will be fabulous in the corner of your bedroom, in the living room across from your sofa, in the sitting room with a wonderful accent table between, or in the den facing the fireplace. This pair of Parson’s cube...

Vintage Blue Khaki Maroon & Black Plaid Barrel Club Chairs a Pair
Located in Topeka, KS
Fabulous vintage blue, khaki, maroon, and black plaid rounded corners and flat back barrel club chairs with black painted wood octagon legs. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. The legs have a fresh coat of black paint. There are a few rust-colored stains on the seat cushions so eventually you may want to reupholster. They are priced accordingly. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Mid-20th Century.
Double your pleasure with this pretty plaid pair!!! This is a wonderful pair of vintage barrel style club chairs wearing a previously reupholstered navy blue, khaki, maroon, & black plaid fabric. The fabric surrounds a unique shaped frame featuring a straight back with arms that taper down from the rounded back corners. They have loose wool wrapped spring T seat cushions and feather down filled loose back cushions and they stand on awesome chunky octagon shaped wood legs that we have given a fresh coat of black paint. The fabric has a couple of rust-colored stains on the seat cushions, (nowhere else) and eventually you may want to reupholster. Just a design hint from our owner who is a retired designer, we think they would look really fun to reupholster just the seat cushions in something like a brown leather or faux leather fabric and leave the rest of the chair’s plaid… Ralph Lauren style! But whatever fabric, when or if you choose to do so, it will be an easy process as the cushions are zippered. They are going to be gorgeous in your traditional or modern country style living room across from the sofa, in your mid-century modern family...

We even found a square patch of the original floral fabric that we will include in case you ever need a repair! There’s a bit of a gray area between traditional midcentury to mid-century modern and these fall within that gray space. Which also means they will blend in beautifully with many different styles. We can just see these chairs in a mountain abode or traditional style home, but they will look equally as awesome in your industrial loft or in a modern country style setting. They would also be wonderful in front of a fireplace in your cabin! Who needs their sweetie to bring fresh flowers home when you have this fabulous floral seating...
