Originally designated the TB-7, this aircraft was renamed the Pe-8 after its primary designer, Vladimir Petlyakov, died in a plane crash in 1942. It was a Soviet heavy bomber designed before World War II, and the only four-engine bomber the USSR built during the war. Produced in limited numbers, it was used to bomb Berlin in August 1941. Its primary mission, however, was to attack German airfields, rail yards, and other rear-area facilities at night. The Junkers Ju 52/3m (nicknamed Tante Ju ("Aunt Ju") and Iron Annie) was a transport aircraft that was designed and manufactured by German aviation company Junkers. Development of the Ju 52 commenced during 1930, headed by German aeronautical engineer Ernst Zindel. Its maiden flight was on 13 October 1930. Following the rise of Nazi Germany, thousands of Ju 52s were procured as a staple military transport of the nation. The Ju 52 was in production between 1931 and 1952. In a civilian role, it flew with over 12 airlines, including Swissair and Deutsche Luft Hansa, as both a passenger carrier and a freight hauler. In a military role, large numbers flew with the Luftwaffe, being deployed on virtually all fronts of the Second World War as a troop and cargo transport; it was also briefly used as a medium bomber. Additionally, the type was deployed by other nation's militaries in conflicts such as the Spanish Civil War, the Chaco War, and the Portuguese Colonial War...

The Curtiss SOC (also known as the "Seagull") was a biplane scout-observation aircraft that operated from US battleships and cruisers throughout the Second World War, actually outliving two newer aircraft that had been designed to replace it. Before the Soc, the US Navy had operated separate scout and observation aircraft, with the scouts operating from cruisers and the observation aircraft operating from battleships, with the main job of observing and correcting their gunfire. When work on the Soc began it was going to be an observation type, so the prototype was given the designation XO3C-1. The prototype was ordered on 19 June 1933 and made its maiden flight in April 1934. It was a single bay biplane that could operate with a single main central float and stabiliser floats on the lower wing tips, or with wheels. The XO3C-1 was originally built as an amphibian, with twin wheels built into the central float, but this idea was abandoned before the type entered production. Several miles aloft, a hundred miles away, in glorious combat, in desperate danger - it is you who warn, speed, comfort and save them. Britain owes you many precious lives. Born in New Zealand Owen Miller worked his passage to London as a deckhand and worked as an illustrator for J Lyons & Co. In 1942 he began work for the Ministry of Aircraft Production and after the war produced posters for National Savings. Born in Auckland and educated at Wellington College he worked as an artist in New Zealand, working with the Maori peoples and as an illustrator for a Wellington newspaper. Finding working life difficult in New Zealand during the depression he signed on as a deckhand working his passage to the UK. Arriving at the Port of London with £5 to his name his first job was an illustrator for J Lyons & Co, the famous Corner Houses company. His greatest work there was to decorate the directors’ dining room as an aircraft interior. Following the outbreak of war Miller began to work for the Ministry of Aircraft Production in late 1942. When Lord Beaverbrook commenced his term as Minister of Aircraft Production in May 1940 it was an industry beset with problems. Aircraft parts were produced in sufficient numbers, but assembly into flyable aircraft proved more challenging – the Castle Bromwich...

He studied art at West Dean College in Sussex, then apprenticed under landscape painter Christopher W Baker and later discovered his passion for photography. He moved away from working with traditional camera techniques in 2015 and is currently progressing the Luminogram process into new directions in which he has become regarded as a leading practitioner. Past awards and accolades include being named a Finalist for the Hasselblad Masters Award (2008, 2009, 2010) and winner of the 2013 Chris Beetles Award. His work has been exhibited internationally and is part of various private and public art and photography collections including The National Art Gallery in Washington, USA. Michael Jackson’s Luminograms are a very special piece of photographic art. Not a photograph in itself but a creative medium of its own. Each one is meticulously crafted by Michael in his darkroom. There are many structured stages to go through before the photographic paper can be hand developed and permanently fixed. Once Michael is happy with a finished Luminogram print it’s then toned in Selenium, which not only intensifies the prints tonality, but also increases the prints archival quality. Traditional photographic darkroom printing techniques have an unquestionable pedigree when it comes to the life expectancy of a photograph. Each Luminogram is unique and only one Silver Gelatin Print is produced of each image. The images reveal themselves with a 3D quality; viewed in the flesh the abstracted surreal forms within the paper come alive to the viewer. Michael Jackson’s Luminograms were exhibited for the first time at MMX Gallery in 2016; The Self Representation of Light exhibition and the following year at Photo London 2017 as well as next Photo London editions. The Luminogram work was also paired with theologian Edwin A.
