Union, Bold Contemporary Color Photography of Butterflies
By Roberta Fineberg
Located in New york, NY
From the transformative to the ephemeral, the birth and death of a butterfly is reimagined in a photo series on butterflies by Roberta Fineberg inspired by a poem by the 13th Century Persian poet Rumi who writes: ‘Whatever you know, or don’t - only love is real’. For Union RF explores the natural and man-made world in which two caterpillars break free of their skin for a metamorphosis. Hatching into exquisite creatures...

Now More Choices, Wall St., New York
By Haik Kocharian
Located in Hudson, NY
These photographs are Dye Sublimation Prints. Framing options available. "Surfing Color" presents photographs that are abstract creations born from realism. Kocharian emphasizes the ambient color in the tradition of minimalism, observing the beauty and mystery of light, shadows, tone, and moods. The environments within the photographs are transformed into ones of symbolism, challenging the viewer to question the images. As a result, a tension is created, like an energy trapped in a frame attempting to escape. Kocharian, who is also a filmmaker, brings a cinematic eye to his photography, as we experience images that reflect simplicity through his focus on light, color, and the documentation of ordinary life. In “Going Home,” Los Angeles a pool-like shadow on the foreground alters the nature and surrounding of the image as light breaches from the center of the bike during sunset. “Blue Highway”, Nevada leads the viewer into the deep blue of early dawn and draws them into a new beginning. His influences in these photographs include artists such as Mark Rothko and photographer William Eggleston, as Kocharian uses color, texture, geometry, and shapes to tell a story that evokes contemplation and introspection. Born in Armenia, Haik Kocharian was introduced to the world of art in his early childhood by his parents, who were theater and film actors. He began his studies at the Armenian Theater Academy and continued his education in film at Brooklyn College, where he also studied photography. Kocharian resides in New York City. In 2015, Kocharian released his first feature film, "Please be Normal," starring Oscar-nominated actor Sam Waterston. The film was nominated for a Critic’s Pick in the New York Times and won awards at two film festivals. Kocharian is actively involved in charity work and, as a photographer, he has collaborated with many non-profit organizations in the U.S. and abroad such as Village Health Partnership in Ethiopia and Meaningful World, a UN-affiliated NGO in Burundi, Kenya, and Rwanda. He has exhibited his works within galleries in New York such as Galerie Mourlot, Robin Rice Gallery, 92 Y Tribeca, and James Cohan Gallery, as well as group exhibitions at the Museum of the City of New York and the International Center for Photography. Kocharian was also a finalist in the Smithsonian Magazine Photo Competition. This is his third solo show at the Robin Rice Gallery. Color, urban, American, New York, New York City, NYC, Landscape, Night, Evening, Surreal, nocturne, warm colors, rain, ICM, noir, streetlight, subway, metro, train, Wall st...

Tulips 1:57AM, Paris
By Leonardo Pucci
Located in Hudson, NY
The Robin Rice Gallery is pleased to present Flowers, a photographic exhibition by Leonardo Pucci. Flowers is Pucci’s second solo exhibition at the Robin Rice Gallery. Paralleling his previous, “episodes (without real order)”, this series is also a project about beauty and intimacy. Flowers was created in the beginning of the pandemic. Pucci says, “the lockdown came to get me out of a creativity crisis I was going through at the time.” He was inspired by a Hojō Jutsu manual while being isolated in his residence in Paris. He studied the art of Shibari and performed it on cut flowers: calla lilies, anemones, carnations, proteas, roses and tulips were tied with strings like bent and constricted bodies and then photographed. “Tulip 1:15pm” was the first image created for this ongoing series. Hojō Jutsu is the martial art of restraining captives with rope, commonly used on the battlefield by the Empire of Japan from 1400 to 1700, that hundreds of years later it evolved into the refined technique of Shibari (literally “to tie”), the spiritual art...

Beyond
By Ted Adams
Located in Hudson, NY
Listing is for UNFRAMED print. Inquire within for framing. Edition of 20. If the exhibition piece is sold or the customer orders a different print size, the photograph is produced upon purchase. Please allow two weeks for production. Shipping time depends on method of shipping. Price is subject to availability. The Robin Rice Gallery reserves the right to adjust this price depending on the current edition of the photograph. Ted Adams’ first solo show at the Robin Rice Gallery juxtaposes surrealism with the documentary art form. What differentiates Mr. Adams’ work from traditional photojournalism is his keen eye for capturing the irony in the events that unfold before our eyes. It is the found objects in everyday life to which Adams is most attuned. He creates a subtle mood and visual mystery that conveys meaning not only from the image itself but also through imagining what exists just beyond the frame. "I see photography as a way of cropping the world—selectively taking things out of context—which often results in stripping the meaning out of the original subject matter, or at least making the image open to interpretation. It’s the opposite of traditional photojournalism whose intention is to create ‘narrative’ and context rather than discard them." While he has exhibited artistic photography in a variety of genres, in the past five years he turned his artistic eye inward to reflect a more autobiographical tone. While some people compare his work to that of Robert Frank, Adams finds himself more and more influenced by Larry Clark whose career was built on pictures drawn from his own life and drug-addled friends rather than a specific documentary mission. The unique presentation of this collection of twenty-three silver gelatin prints enhances the voyeuristic sensibility of Mr. Adams’ work. Each photograph is jewel box in size, measuring 4" x 6" to invite the viewer in to make an intimate appraisal. The craftsmanship of the wide, dark wood frames hearkens back to late 19th-century Shaker design—yet the aesthetic is boldly contemporary, providing a strong backdrop to draw the viewer’s gaze directly to the subject matter. This artisanship extends to the printing where Adams exhibits his skills in traditional darkroom processes. He shoots mostly with Leica and Nikon 35mm film cameras...
