The Dayton's Bag: Two original abstract lithographs plate signed double sided
By Frank Stella
Located in New York, NY
Frank Stella The Dayton's Bag, 1984 Two (2) separate offset lithographs: one on each side of a mixed media paper shopping bag 18 1/2 × 16 × 4 inches Plate signed "Frank Stella '84" twice: once on each side of the bag (see photos) This paper shopping bag with two different color offset lithographs (one on each side) was created by Frank Stella along with his longtime publisher Tyler Graphics. The work is plate signed Frank Stella on the top of each side, and each side bears the printed text, "Dayton's Salutes the Opening of Walker Art Center's New Galleries. Premiere Exhibition Selections from Tyler Graphics, 23 September '84 to 17 May '85." This elegant work, produced with the highest quality lithography by Frank Stella at Tyler Graphics, was created in a limited quantity solely for VIP collectors at that one day's event as it was a true one-off creation. Not too many of them have survived a quarter century on, and rarely in such good condition. Not too many people you know can boast that they possess a Frank Stella shopping bag. Note that this listing is for one two sided shopping bag, each side with a different color lithograph - so it's actually two Frank Stella lithographs...

Windswept Landscape Henry Moore drawing of Scottish landscape for W.H. Auden
By Henry Moore
Located in New York, NY
One of a series of 18 lithographs drawn by the artist fo¬r the Auden Poems/Moore Lithographs 1974 book and portfolio. This work is from an edition of 25 printed on vellum aside from the portfolio (edition of 75) and the book. Signed by the artist lower right in pencil; numbered lower left in pencil. Printed in inky black, this print features a shadowy landscape. Brush sweeps to the left, and the sky is drawn with long horizontal lines. In the bottom half of the composition, the ground looks rocky, perhaps dotted with shrubs. Windswept Landscape displays Moore’s fascination with light and dark – what he called a “…bias towards the blackness and mysterious depths.” Moore was inspired by the prints of Rembrandt and the drawings of Seurat, and even drew on his memories of viewing the Altamira cave paintings, recalling how some of the images used the shadow of candlelight on the rough surface of the rock to model light. Shortly before starting work on this series of lithographs, Moore had fallen ill, leaving him aware of his own mortality. His mood pervaded these prints with a sense of danger and foreboding. The Auden/Moore limited edition book and portfolio were exhibited on publication at the British Museum, London, with an accompanying catalogue. Windswept Landscape is one of a group of lithographs...

Published by the artist; Printed by Haven Press, Brooklyn, New York More about Maya Hayuk: Maya Hayuk is a Ukrainian-American artist with an extensive background in a wide range of generative art and social practices. Hayuk weaves visual information from her immediate surroundings into elaborate, painterly abstractions, thus creating an engaging mix of referents from popular culture and advanced painting practices alike. Her large-scale, improvised murals speak to the artist’s obsession with symmetry, “perfect imperfection” and outer/ inner space. Her works look to expanding consciousness and perception to find patterns and interconnectivity. Ultimately, the traditional and the contemporary blend into new harmonic, dissonant, optimistic, experimental compositions. Hayuk considers her studio painting and mural practices as both inversely relational and symbiotic. Hayuk’s work has been the subject of one person exhibitions and commissions at venues including FRAC Museum in Dunkerque, FR (2019), The Ukrainian Museum New York (2017), The Bowery Wall, NY (2014), The Hammer Museum, LA (2013), The Museum Of Contemporary Canadian Art, Toronto, Canada (2013), Bonnefanten Museum, Maastricht, The Netherlands (2012); Socrates Sculpture Park, Queens, New York (2011); Musee E.A.V., Rio De Janiero, Brazil (2011); Matucana Artspace, Santiago, Chile (2009); Democratic National Convention, Denver, Colorado (2008); and Monster Island, Brooklyn, New York (2005-2011). Her work has been included in group exhibitions such as Streetopia, The Luggage Store, San Francisco (2012); Black Light & Outer Space, Secret Project Robot, Brooklyn, New York (2011); Rojo Nova, Museum of Image and Sound, Sao Paolo, Brazil (2010); Contemporary Art 2010, Ukrainian Institute of America, New York (2010); Sous l’es bombs, Musee International des Arts Modeste, Sete, France (2007); The Zine Unbound: Kults, Werewolves, and Sarcastic Hippies, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco, CA (2005). In 2018, Hayuk gave a TEDx Talk from The Center of Art and Design (CAD) in Brussels, Belgium, which recounts the arc of her developing career.
