"Woman Of Tagmout (Singing the Ahwash)" from "Costumes of Morocco"
Located in Detroit, MI
"Femme de Tagmout Chantant L'Ahwas" translated to "Woman Of Tagmout (Singing the Ahwash)" is plate number 44 in Jean Besancenot's stunning portraits and depictions of the people of Morocco from his series "Costumes du Maroc" ("Costumes of Morocco). The woman depicted here is veiled and draped and in the midst of singing the "ahwash", a traditional song and dance from the regions of southern Morocco, such as Tagmout, and which has some roots in the pre-Islamic cultures of the Amazigh (also known as the Berbers) and is performed primarily by the Shilha, a sub-group of the Berbers. The ahwash is a community performance that incorporates song, dance, poetry, and frame drums...

Joyce T. Nagel Lithograph "Snowscape" Artist's Proof Winter Scene Signed Dated
Located in Detroit, MI
"Snowscape" is a study in contrasts being both a landscape and an abstract study of black and white negative/positive shapes. It is very powerful in the stark scene created and because of the interesting placement of the black and white areas. Being an "Artist's Proof" means that it was the first print pulled before the artist approved the look of the print and initiated further printing. It is an accomplished piece of depth and intellectual complexity. It is a Lithograph. Lithography is a planographic printmaking process in which a design is drawn onto a flat stone (or prepared metal plate, usually zinc or aluminum) and affixed by means of a chemical reaction. Like an actual storm whose characteristics are unique this monoprint is a one-off print and unique. She has captured the heavy dark feel of storm clouds and the slashing rain that accompanies a storm. Nagel has the ability to infuse her work with the intricate characteristics found in nature. Joyce Tilley Nagel...

Douglas Semivan Abstract Modern "Receiver I" Signed and Numbered
By Douglas Semivan
Located in Detroit, MI
"Receiver I" is an abstract print of three diagonally placed lines. It is reminiscent of an early work by Georgia O'Keeffe, "Blue Lines X" in that both artists, Semivan and O'Keeffe, have achieved a beauty in the placement, width of, length and juxtapositions of simple lines to achieve a never ending balance and harmony for the viewer. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Douglas Semivan...

"Yellow Pepper", Still-Life Aquatint Etching Lithograph, Signed & Numbered
By Aaron Fink
Located in Detroit, MI
"Yellow Pepper" is a work that displays Aaron Fink's experiments in still-life expressionism with its more than life-like depiction of a bell pepper in vibrant color. This print made with aquatint etching marries the expressionist style with the classic realistic depiction of food that we often take for granted. The print is 36.63 x 29.63 inches and is signed and numbered from an edition of 30 by the artist. Numbered edition may not necessarily be number 6 as there are multiple prints in the possession of Collected Detroit. This is a separate lithograph from "Red Pepper" which can be purchased separately but is including in the photographs for contrast as a set. Aaron Fink, the son of Boston Expressionist artist Barbara Swan...
