The paintings of this artist have been part of the collection of Galerie Bonnard since his graduation (2010) at the Classical Academy of Groningen. Huitsing has quickly become successful, his style, craftsmanship and choice of subject appeals to many people. Yet Marten, he says, does not want to repeat himself. He is always looking for the way of painting that suits him at that moment. The sympathetic artist got national fame because he beautifully portrayed a famous Dutch TV presentator Mart Smeets in the 'Paint the stars' program. Honest, very recognizable and with a narrative painting. Mart Smeets was overwhelmed, praising his comments. Rightly so! From that moment. Marten Huitsing's work has gained increasing popularity, he is an annually returning artist at the renowned PAN and he can hardly cope with the demand for new work.

This painting is made by Flip Gaasendam. An important member of the 'Dutch Northern Figurative Painters' . His paintings are called 'Poems in paint' . The place where he painted this work is at Schiermonnikoog, one of the Islands in the north of the Netherlands. He likes to stay and work on the island and pains he typical sphere of the old Dutch sphere in that famous Hotel. Flip Gaasendam tells with his paintings where he likes, there, in those places, he paints. His recognizable loose touch, carefully chosen colors, spherical landscapes, interiors and portraits have been part of the permanent collection of Galerie Bonnard for years. We read somewhere that Flip Gaasendam has a 'Flip Gaasendam veil' on his subjects. That is, we believe, a good description of the works of this highly esteemed artist. "Poetry in paintings" is also a statement that fits with the work and can be read in the numerous descriptions that can be found about the artist. The artist himself says that he wants to put life to a halt in his work. He says the following about his way of working: 'Because I am an aquarellist from home, I learned how to paint transparently in tone and tone. I also use that in my oil paints. My work is classified as post-impressionistic. When I paint, however, I forget everything about art history. I like a lot of things, from Alma Tadema to Andrew Wyeth, but I am a painter of today. It therefore goes too far to say that I consciously go back to the past. I work unorthodox. I do not apply the paint with a fixed method. I brush with wipes, use the palette knife, work with my hands, etc. That my palette is heavily controlled by the color green, is because I often make a painting blond with cobalt and ocher. My themes are often nostalgic and romantic. as a child, I thought the morning mist was beautiful, and with the light effect in the Groninger station restoration it is just as well. The work shows a strong resemblance to a portrait by Finsonius in the North Brabant Museum. This
signed and dated "Girl with Basket and Cherries" (Inv. 15529), was painted just a year later, in 1632.
Not only are the paintings remarkably similar in overall size and format, in painting style, and in the
positioning of the girls in full length in their white lace dresses. They are also connected by the
iconographic scheme of the respective coral necklaces, each with a gold memorial medal hanging
from it. Although they are of course individuals, the faces are very similar in their depictions of
features such as eyes, nose, and lips. This points to the same technique applied by the same painter.
Finally, the handwriting is almost the same on the works by Finsonius known so far.

'Poems in paint'
Flip Gaasendam tells with his paintings where he likes, there, in those places, he paints. His recognizable loose touch, carefully chosen colors, spherical landscapes, interiors and portraits have been part of the permanent collection of Galerie Bonnard for years.
We read somewhere that Flip Gaasendam has a 'Flip Gaasendam veil' on his subjects. That is, we believe, a good description of the works of this highly esteemed artist. "Poetry in paintings" is also a statement that fits with the work and can be read in the numerous descriptions that can be found about the artist. The artist himself says that he wants to put life to a halt in his work. He says the following about his way of working:
'Because I am an aquarellist from home, I learned how to paint transparently in tone and tone. I also use that in my oil paints. My work is classified as post-impressionistic. When I paint, however, I forget everything about art history. I like a lot of things, from Alma Tadema to Andrew Wyeth, but I am a painter of today. It therefore goes too far to say that I consciously go back to the past. I work unorthodox. I do not apply the paint with a fixed method. I brush with wipes, use the palette knife, work with my hands, etc. That my palette is heavily controlled by the color green, is because I often make a painting blond with cobalt and ocher. My themes are often nostalgic and romantic. as a child, I thought the morning mist was beautiful, and with the light effect in the Groninger station restoration it is just as well. '

During his successful career as a goldsmith the desire to paint grew on Dutch artist René Smoorenburg (1954). The attention to detail, which was of great importance in his work as a goldsmith, proved of great value in painting his one of a kind still life’s.
In "Cream puff with strawberries" the artist's attention to fine detail is traceable in the way he painted the sprinkle of powdered sugar, the lightness of the whipped cream, the shimmer on the strawberries and so on. All the fine details create an effect of trompe-l'oeil, the painting is deceptive realistic.
His work stands in the long tradition of Dutch still life painting, originated in the seventeenth century, with its highly refined and meticulously executed depiction of reality. His work is in the spirit of many of those great works but retains its own distinctive style.
Although René Smoorenburg works at a few paintings at the same time, the time it takes him to finish one individual painting amounts six months. Because of his very detailed style of painting, this time span is necessary to complete the work with a lot of patience and endurance.
In contrast to the masters of the Golden Age, he chooses to emphasize the vulnerability, fragility and imperfection of everyday objects in his still life’s. According to René Smoorenburg, beauty is not perfection, but in the trace of the past and the evidence of enduring ravages of time.
