Winter Kill Five Paths Large Abstract Mixed Media
By Terence La Noue
Located in Lake Worth Beach, FL
Winter Killed Five Paths, 1983 Mixed Media Abstract, signed and title on revers. No frame needed for this work at the top is attached to plank of wood and ready to be hang, it will be rolled up for shipping. Terence La Noue was born in Hammond, Indiana in 1941. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1964. After going to Berlin as a Fulbright Meister Student at Hochscule fur Bildende Kunste in 1964-65 he went on to receive a Master of Fine Arts degree from Cornell University. In addition to the Fulbright Foundation fellowship, La Noue has twice received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Guggenheim Foundation. He has had extensive teaching experience at Trinity College 1967-72, the City University of New York 1972-85 and at New York University in 1987. He lives between Arizona, Paris, France and Vermont. Terence La Noue, who has created powerful, compelling paintings for the last four decades, is considered one of the outstanding talents of 20th century American abstract art. Layering canvas, fabric, gauze, acrylic paint and cast elements forming a lively melding of many different materials, symbols and colors to create tapestry-like paintings, he conjures up colorfully rich abstractions that reveal a sense of myth, magic and mystery. His extensive world travels serve as inspiration for works that are abstract mixtures of Western and non-Western traditions and histories. India, South America, Morocco, Mexico and Nepal have been favorite destinations. Terence La Noue’s unique approach to painting and printmaking has achieved worldwide recognition. Beginning in Berlin in 1965 he has had over a hundred and thirty acclaimed solo exhibitions in London, Paris, Tehran, Stockholm, Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Cologne, New York, Washington, DC, Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago, Palm Beach, Dallas, Atlanta, Tucson and Scottsdale. His work is represented in the permanent collections of major museums including: The Museum of Modern Art in New York, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Whitney Museum of Art, The Corcoran Gallery, The Guggenheim Museum, The Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn, New York, The Tate Modern in London in Japan, Singapore, France and Australia including the Center for Contemporary Art, Kitakyushu, Japan, the Power Institute of Fine Arts, Sydney, Australia, The Musee d'Art et Archeologie, Paris, France. Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States Carnegie Institute, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington D.C., United States Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo, New York, United States National Gallery of Australia, Sidney, Australia Addison Gallery of American Art, Phillips Academy, Andover, Massachusetts United States Embassy, Beijing, China His work is also included in numerous university and city art museums throughout the US as well as major corporate collections. Terence la Noue worked extensively at Tyler Graphics from 1987 to 1993 and is represented in the National Gallery’s Kenneth Tyler Collection by a large body of work made in 1987 and 1991. La Noue’s work is characterized by an intensive layering process, which was well accommodated by the Tyler workshop. The artist found that through collaboration with Ken Tyler...

Landscape With Birch Trees
Located in Lake Worth Beach, FL
Landscape signed lower left beautiful original gold leaf frame. Frank Peyraud earned a lasting reputation for rural landscapes, especially snow scenes in broadly defined forms and glowing colors. Excepting a trip from 1921 to 1923 to Italy and Switzerland, he was based in Chicago, where a Registrar of the Chicago Art Institute in materials for a traveling exhibition, described him as the "dean of Chicago landscape artists." (Richter) Peyraud was one of the first American painters to focus on the Midwestern landscape and did many river and farm scenes including his signature snowscapes. Many of his paintings reflected Impressionism, an abstract style executed with rapid technique and broken brushstrokes brought over from France towards the end of the 19th Century. Impressionism received much attention in Chicago in some of the artwork exhibited at the 1893 Exposition. Of Peyraud and Impressionism, it was written that "he was the most successful of the progressive Chicago painters who experimented with impressionist approaches in the years following Exposition." He was credited with more discipline of execution than many of his peer impressionists and with a "valid impressionism", (Greenhouse) that conveyed poetic interpretations to what many persons regarded as very ordinary rural Illinois landscape. His snow scene haystack painting, Winter Light on the Farm, in the Marshall Collection of Peoria and exhibited at the Terra Museum, shows "crystalline atmosphere and fleeting light of a waning winter afternoon". (Greenwood) and seems to reference the serial haystack paintings by Claude Monet. Many of Peyraud's works had luminous back-lighting, and careful arrangement of contrasting shapes, and a tone inviting the viewer into a "slightly enchanted world into which quotidian human elements rarely intrude." (Richter) Peyraud was born in Bulle, Switzerland, and enrolled as an architecture student at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In 1881, at age 22 and an established architect in France, he emigrated to Chicago where he spent the remainder of his career. He found employment there as a cyclorama painter, which meant creating huge panoramic paintings in the round, "forerunner of the wide-screen motion picture." (Richter). In 1891, he became involved in retouching Paul Phillipoteaux's panorama, The Battle of Gettysburg, when it came to Chicago for exhibition He continued to work on panoramic and cycloramas spectacles including The Creation for the 1903 Louisiana Exposition. Spring Painted Desert in the Santa Fe Railroad Collection shows at least one trip West. Peyraud also did mural painting, several of them in Peoria, Illinois including a series of allegorical murals with Hardesty Maratta in the Peoria at the newly-built Public Library. In Peoria, he also taught classes and gave lectures. In 1906, he married Elizabeth Krisher, a portrait painter, and illustrator. Sources include: Marianne Richter, Union League Club of Chicago Art Collection, "Frank Charles Peyraud...

Trio On Red Geometric Abstract Oil Painting
By Jaro
Located in Lake Worth Beach, FL
Trio On Red Geometric Abstract Oil Painting Artist signed verso, oil on canvas 48x24 JARO was born in 1934 Prague the Czech Republic. Since his childhood, he enjoyed his art class at school the most. Almost every drawing and panting were on display in his classroom. During his college years, in Vienna Austria, studying to become mechanical engineer, he continued to study art. His technical drafting education became later a major factor and influence in his GEOMETRIC ABSTRACTION (Non-Objective) paintings. He immigrated in 1957 to the USA, New York , where he finished his first small oil painting. Since then JARO painted on and off, until he opened his own studio in 1965 on East 4th Street in the Village. Here he created a series of well designed palette knife paintings in the style of abstract expressionism. JARO stretched off shaped canvases, making him one of the first artists working with these unique shapes. At the time JARO owned his own studio, he studied at the Art Students League 57th Street, New York.  Later in 1969, he studied in Woodstock for several years with John Pike, one of the foremost watercolorists in America, as well as, with Robert Angeloch...

Tea Time
By Frank Bramley
Located in Wiscasett, ME
Signed and dated 92 lower left. Oil on canvas. Frank Bramley British, 1857-1915 Frank Bramley is considered one of the most important artists of the Newlyn School, the group of artists who settled in Newlyn, Cornwall during the 1880s and 1890s, drawn by the light, lifestyle and the example of Alexander Stanhope Forbes, and were at the forefront of 'British Impressionism'. He was particularly ‘in the news’ when his painting of a woman reading in a garden made the astonishing price of $590,000 at Sotheby's New York in late May 1996. As the seminal catalogue of the famous Newlyn School exhibition states, Bramley's reputation has rested for some time on Hopeless Dawn, his major RA exhibition of 1888, and which in recent years has been hung almost constantly at the Tate Gallery. Bramley was born in Lincolnshire and trained at Lincoln Art School, later at Verlat's Academy in Antwerp, from where he went to Venice in 1882-83, where our painting was executed.
