Midcentury Stoneware Bowl by Gunnar Nylund for Rörstrand, Sweden, 1950s
By Gunnar Nylund, Rörstrand
Located in Stockholm, SE
Beautiful stoneware bowl by Gunnar Nylund, in an oval boat shape with an undulating edge. Large size. Purple and blue glaze with nuances of brown. Gunnar Nylund was one of the most influential ceramicists and designers of the Swedish mid-century period. He was Rörstrand’s creative leader from 1931 until 1949 and as such propelled the artistic work at the factory and served as mentor to younger artists, among them Carl-Harry Stålhane and Hertha Bengtsson. Nylund was a dedicated functionalist, who brought ideas of democratizing stoneware and creating beautiful, qualitative and affordable everyday items for the people to Rörstand in the mid-1920s. The factory had at the time lost its former leading market position, but Nylund’s efforts gave it a great reboot. He designed ceramic kitchenware...

Pilier Steel Tray by Sizar Alexis
By Sizar Alexis
Located in Geneve, CH
Pilier steel tray by Sizar Alexis Unique signed piece Dimensions: Length 35 x width 28 x height 4.5 cm Materials: Blackened steel, ox leather A series of boldly sculpted furnitures and objects, an appreciation of the raw metal feel and texture. The series is made in steel without any welds. Assembled by Sizar Alexis in Eskilstuna, Where various parts goes into one and another then locked in place by custom made threaded pins and nuts that looks like the supporting pillars. About Sizar Alexis Sizar Alexis is a Swedish-Iraqi product and furniture designer that experiments with objects that display serenity through geometrical shapes, while remaining robust in volume. His trademark style is built on creating objects bear a strong character, accomplished through the use of raw and imperfect surfaces in combination with a deep interest in Brutalism and the rich cultural and architectural heritage from ancient Mesopotamia. He uses the delicate character of noble materials juxtaposed with Brutalist angular shapes to create objects that stand the test of time. Background and history Sizar Alexis was born in Ankawa, just outside the city of Erbil in northern Iraq. His Chaldean roots puts his lineage in a straight line back to 5000 BC...
