This is a fabulous original Limited Edition Lithograph, completely of its time when artists in Paris were pushing boundaries and trying to bring about new styles. The influence of artists like Matisse can be seen and Minaux was working alongside artists such as Picasso and with Bernard Buffet to reject ideas of Abstract painting.
The text that accompanies the lithograph can be seen in the image of the certificate and is in French. The translation that follows on the certificate of Provenance gives an in depth description of this compelling still life:
'It is a singularly balanced art that that of André MINAUX, a typically French painting, made of power of clarity and nobility, in the tradition of our great modern masters as well as those of past centuries. And yet this painting under the hieratic appearance of the attitudes is not a wise painting, but on the contrary terribly dynamic, in which the passion and the virulence of the feelings are contained only by the simplicity and the purity of the forms. Each work of André Minaux is a miracle of balance between bubbling joy; joy of painting, joy of living; which animates the artist, and the voluntary serenity of the colors and volumes by which he translates his vision of beauty and grandeur. André Minaux's painting, full of a life in perpetual becoming, is the great and worthy expression of an art continually in evolution which moves without aggressiveness, but not without struggles, towards its final ends. And this painting, painting of an artist in full possession of all his means, of an extremely solid technique, and of a perfect trade is however that of a young person. Forty-one years is youth for a painter and at this age André Minaux, already recognized as one of the masters of the young French figurative school, has a future as brilliant and promising as behind him a long history of hard work and success. André Minaux is Parisian, born September 5, 1923. Very young he feels attracted to the graphic arts, he prepares and enters the School of Decorative Arts, but pure painting attracts him irresistibly and it is to her that he soon devotes himself exclusively. His young and great talent makes him quickly noticed. He first exhibited at the Salon des Sous de Trente Ans and later at other salons: des Indépendants, d'Automne, then at the Salon de Mai and at the Tuileries. In 1948 first private exhibition in Paris, others will follow in 1951, 1956 and 1957. In the meantime two exhibitions equal ment were devoted to him in London in 1953 and 1957. His last was a very important exhibition in 1963 at the David and Garnier Gallery in Paris. In 1949 at the 'Ecole de Paris', Galerie Charpentier, he had already won the Critics' Prize. Its reputation extends abroad thanks to numerous demonstrations of groups in England, Germany, Australia, Canada, Japon, U.S. A., etc... The Museum of Modern Art in Paris, several museums in the provinces, the Tate Gallery in London, have works by André Minaux, and his paintings can be found in major collections in Paris, London, New York, Tokyo, Stockholm, etc. ... Signed and presented in the original framing. Raymond John "Jack" Coutu ARE ARCA (13 September 1924 – 17 May 2017) was an English printmaker, sculptor, etcher, engraver, carver, watercolourist and teacher. He was influenced by Oriental art.Jack Coutu was born Raymond John Coutu at Farnham, Surrey, England, and was educated at Farnham Grammar School.[ On leaving school in 1940, he worked at Abbott of Farnham, a coachbuilding company in Farnham, where his father Bert Coutu was also employed painting coats of arms and heraldic shields. In 1942, at the age of 18 during World War II, he joined the Royal Corps of Signals, where after training he served in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), India, and Singapore. At the end of WWII, he was in Kure, Japan, in the Hiroshima Prefecture.
From 1947 to 1951, Coutu studied at the Farnham School of Art, followed by the Royal College of Art in London from 1951 to 1954 and the Central School of Art from 1951 to 1955. At the Central School of Art, Merlin Evans was an influence on Coutu's printmaking.
Coutu taught printmaking at the Central School of Art from 1957 to 1965 and then at the West Surrey College of Art and Design in Farnham from 1965 to 1985. In 1968, he started to carve netsuke (as practised in Japan) and he joined the Netsuke Kenkyukai Society, based in the United StatesHe is also a member of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers and the Printmakers Council.

This is a rare A.P (artist proof) from the Untitled 67 print run. It's handprinted 5 colours as split-fountain.
Size 80 x 60 cm, with a 5 cm white border, the condition is good, it will be shipped rolled in a hard tube.
Artist info: Gfeller + Hellsgård is an artist duo working in Berlin. They've created an unique painterly screen-print-style which includes colour overlaps, smudges, bleeding, glitches and transparencies.
In 1995 while studying at Ecole Supérieur des Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg, Christian Gfeller (born 1973, Alsace) started publishing screen-printed graph'zines and artists' books under the moniker Bongoût (good taste).
Bongoût found it's roots in the french D.I.Y art punk scene and, together with an handful of people, also organised concerts, party's and performances in an old warehouse named Lactina in Kehl, across the Rhine from France. The location became cult with its first techno parties, noise concerts and art performances, as well as exhibitions. Christian's first screen-print studio was located in Lactina and beside zine and book making, he designed and printed posters for the events as well as record covers for the cult garage trash punk label Yakisakana Rcds. In 2000, FLTMSTPC in Paris published a polaroid book by Christian, where this vivid time at Lactina was well documented. During this period Christian also played in several local bands: Pitfall, Elcamino and The Cheeraks.
Christian Gfeller met Anna Hellsgård (born 1980, Stockholm) at a concert in Berlin on September 11th 2001.
After Anna's short art study at Konstskolan in Stockholm, she was eager to develop her photographic interest and become an assistant to a commercial photographer for 2 years. In the meantine Anna also was Dj-ing in several clubs and bars in Stockholm. A vague memory from 1991 of her first Berlin visit and her music interest draw her to move to Berlin in 2001. There she continued with her B/W photographs and shot hundreds of pictures during her first time in Berlin. When she met Christian, she got immediately drawn to the french underground scene and its subversive graphic art content. Whenever she visited Christian in Strasbourg she would help him with his printing at the Lactina studio.
In 2002 the couple moved to Bordeaux and built up a screen-print studio there. This is where they started to work full time together as an artist-duo, publishing their own zines, artist's books as well as designing gig posters and record covers. The year and a half in Bordeaux was very prolific and they grounded together a strong artistic direction and a unique style. Bongoût editions continued to grow there as well.The artist-duo produced over 40 screen-printed books in collaboration with other artists during this time.
In 2004 they decided to move back to Berlin, and relocated their studio to the Friedrichshain neighbourhood.
