About the Item
Katherine Borkowski-Byrne’s ‘Duchamp Descending” is an oil painting on canvas 60 x 38 x 1 inches with spontaneous brushwork in a colorful scale of greens, blues, browns, reds and ocher with a dark background of blues and browns. This painting was inspired by Marcel Duchamp’s “Nude Descending a Staircase” and the artist’s reinterpretation of this masterpiece with her own narrative. “Duchamp Descending” is unframed with sides painted white and the signature on the reverse.
Katherine paints while listening to opera and translates the many layered-music into many-layered paintings. She is influenced by the art of the New York School of Abstract Expressionism with it’s focus on being in the moment and the use of fortunate accidents and experimental techniques. She is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.
