Robert Perniaux , born in Grez-Doiceau in 1906 and died in 1973, was a Belgian architect, painter, ceramicist and illustrator. He trained from 1923 to 1929 at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. His work as a ceramicist, illustrator, watercolourist and painter had a characteristic style, which according to Paul Piron was "close to popular art " . His older brother, Gerard, was also a genre painter. His first art lessons came from his father. Then he attended the Royal Atheneum and, from 1873, took after-school classes at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts with Edward Dujardin.
