This work is part of her new 2022 series titled "Myth of Sisyphus." As a multidisciplinary artist, Liddell brings a dynamic approach to her vivid, colorful two-dimensional pieces. This particular piece has a bold contrast between black chains and a pastel background.
From the artist: "Gender and power are core concepts in my work. I’ve spent two decades in “The Classic City” (Athens, Georgia), surrounded by a dual Greek culture. Fraternities and sororities separate students by gender and play a part in cementing gender roles and power structures for the next generation; ubiquitous Classical architecture (often accompanied by manicured landscape) is a constant reminder of Western ideals.
After a career of painting the female figure and exploring themes related to the male gaze and the lingering inequalities that women face, I’ve focused the past five years on the male figure and his domain. My education was dominated by Western art history, where women were seen as muses; I’m reversing this traditional dynamic between the male artist/intellectual and his female subject.
I create tiny “plays” with handmade props and puppet plasticine figures to reenact imagined dramas that might happen on any given home game day...

Anita Loomis is a painter who works from her studio in Kittery, Maine. Communication is the underpinning focus of her oeuvre. Through this series of paintings, the artist asks what possible new species will evolve as the Earth changes.
Anita Loomis creates paintings that explore facets of human dialogue and relationships. Through painting, humor, and a deep curiosity about human imperfection, she investigates what it means to navigate communication with people who see the world through different cultural lenses. Loomis paints to shine a light on the common threads that connect our human experiences and spotlight the value of empathy.
Loomis earned her BA in Studio Art from Framingham State University in Massachusetts, and her MA with a concentration in Arts Management from the University of Central Florida. She worked in the field of architectural stained glass for fifteen years and has focused on painting since 2004. She lives and works in Kittery, Maine. Born in 1958. At his first personal exhibition (greeted by "Le Matin"), he is still a high school student.
At the workshops of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he prefers the personal research on the questioning of the paint of the painting that he does not hesitate to exhibit in the Salons (Big and Young, May, etc. ...) and which is split up with a mystic and barbarous vision applied to the installation, at Land-art.
In 1983, on his first visit to the USA, discovers the Hopi in the heart of the "American Dream". Violence of the figure. He then weaves in New York, Toulouse, Brussels, Paris the conjunction installation-drawing over many galleries.
In 1988, he entered the Galerie Krif (Paris) and immersed himself in the myth of Moby Dick. Many exhibitions (Brussels, Tarbes, Lyon, Rennes) while teaching at the School of Fine Arts in Bourges.
Henri Basmadjian died in December 1993. Homage to Furea Koral's 40th Year in Art showed with Osman Dinç, Song S, Daniel Buren
