Dimensions: 15.75 X 15.25 These have a texture that feels like a painting. Done in Jaffa Israel based on the Hebrew Bible. Jewish, Judaica interest.
Emil Schumacher is among the best-known exponents of Art Informel in Germany. His painting style, which he initially developed in the 1950s under the influence of Wols, is marked by dark, brownish black or brilliant thick red colours and a graffiti like sign language that endow the pictures the expressive character of old cracked masonry.
Emil Schumacher (29 August 1912 in Hagen, Westfalen – 4 October 1999 in San José, Ibiza) was a German artist and painter. He was an important representative of abstract expressionism in post-war Germany.
As an 18-year-old, Emil Schumacher undertakes a four-week-long bicycle tour to Paris, France.
1932–1935: Studies graphic design at the School of Applied Arts in Dortmund intending to become a graphic designer in advertising.
1935–1939: Independent artist without participating in exhibits. He undertakes study trips by bicycle to the Netherlands and Belgium.
1939–1945: Service obligation as draftsman in an arms factory, the Akkumulatoren–Werke of Hagen.
Since 1945: Immediately after end of war, new start as independent artist.
1947: First solo exhibit in the Studio für neue Kunst. Co-founder of the artist group Junger Westen.

The drypoint created in 1920 is a working state, the fourth of eight. The eight states are listed in the Frank W. Benson catalogue raisonne by Adam Paff #184. There are two recorded impressions of this print making it a rare find. It is signed in pencil and inscribed "D-2." The Image size 4 3/8 x 5 13/16" (11.1 x 14.8 cm). The final printed edition of "Three Yellowlegs" was 150.
Frank Weston Benson (1862-1951), well known for his American impressionist paintings, produced an incredible body of prints - etchings, drypoints, and a few lithographs. Born and raised on the North Shore of Massachusetts, Benson, a natural outdoorsman, grew up sailing, fishing, and hunting. While a teenager his fascination with drawing and birding developed simultaneously and continued throughout his life.
His first art instruction was with Otto Grundman at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and then in 1883 in Paris at the Academie Julian where he studied the rigorous ‘ecole des beaux arts’ approach to drawing and painting for two years.

This original vintage poster was designed for London Transport and encourages shoppers to head home earlier in the day to avoid congestion on the London Underground and buses. The well-heeled customers in the poster sport smart 1930s shoes, and jostle against their purchases (a Father Christmas puppet and red-berried holly leaves mark the design as published in time for Christmas). The pinstripe-suited gentleman's newspaper serves as the background for the first line of the poster's text, which is slanted in the synthetic cubist style (synthetic cubists were keen to explore collage in their work, often employing collage, especially of newsprint).

A factory worker and a soldier all played a key part in the U.S. war effort. Published by the War Information Office in an attempt to foster greater cooperation between some different segments of society.
AMERICANS SUFFER WHEN CARLESS TALK KILLS! Original 1943 U.S. Government (military propaganda) poster. Archival linen backed in A- - B+ condition, ready to frame. Note that WW2 U. S. Government posters were folded prior to being distributed. This is not considered a defect. The fold marks were restored during linen backing. Tiny chips along the bottom border.
This poster promoted cooperation among various segments of American society- a woman, a soldier, and a factory worker. It is a mixture of crusading, religious, and industrial symbolism. The text quotes Henry Wallace, then Vice-President.
