Reclining Figure with Bird bronze pedestal sculpture
Located in Glen Ellen, CA
Commissioned to create a life-sized reclining figure, John Denning made two maquettes during a stay in a medieval hamlet in France. This is the cast of one of these wax maquettes, finished in a dark bronze patina. Smooth surfaces contrast with highly textured areas, as the figure seems to emerge from a block heavily worked with drips and carvings. As if a ruin herself, the figure’s arm and leg seem partially eroded away, while a bird lighted...

Pop Culture, Bronze Sculpture: 'Athena'
Located in New York, NY
Inspired by amateur archaeologists such as Heinrich Schliemann who discovered Troy and by past elaborate hoaxes like that of the Piltdown Man, Joshua travels the world performing staged archaeological excavations exposing the malleability of our history. During these performances he discovers his own versions of historical artifacts, crafted from objects from his youth--such as baseball cards, G.I. Joe action figures, POGS, and various other toys and items. His discoveries and claims, while false and absurdly comical, are based on real research. Joshua Goode: Born in Fort Worth, Texas in 1981, Joshua Goode is researching and developing mythic historical misinterpretations and manipulations in an effort to expose the malleability of our past, present and future. His alternate history and mythology preserve memories of childhood ranch life in Texas by reimagining objects and imagery from his youth as iconic ancient artifacts. Having studied history and worked as an archaeologist on many actual excavations, he conducts staged excavations around the world, working with the community as a performance. The constructed artifacts of his invented civilization mix fact and fiction to appropriate and distort the history and myths of each region he engages. His ‘artifacts’ have been exhibited in solo exhibitions in international venues such as the Razliv Museum, St. Petersburg, (Russia); Capellades Museum, Barcelona, (Spain); Zendai Museum of Modern Art, Shanghai, (China); Darb 1718 in Cairo, (Egypt); LaSala Gallery, Zaragoza, (Spain); Galerija Miroslav Kraljevic...

Krishna, Hindu God, Bronze Sculpture, Indian Artist K.S. Radhakrishnan"In Stock"
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
K.S. Radhakrishnan - Krishna - HT : 13 x W : 10 x CIR : 20 inches Bronze Sculpture. Krishna : Figurative sculpture of Hindu God by great Modern Indian Artist K.S. Radhakrishnan who has successfully brought about a defenitive resurgence in Indian sculpture. Style : K.S Radhakrishnan is one of the most notable among the new generation of sculptors. Like many of his contempories he is a figurative sculptor, but his preference for modelling and bronze casting sets him apart from the rest of them. Recharging age old sculptural processes with a new sensibility, thus is the singular challenge he brings to modern Indian sculpture. And this makes him a modernist - who approaches his work with discernible ambition and considerable aplomb while steering clear of brinkmanship. Radhakrishnan's works often drawn from the emotions and myths of the Hindu gods, such as Shiva, Kali and Radha. His sculptures are often larger than life-sized; placed in the outdoors, they evoke a superhuman atmosphere. Over the years, Radhakrishnan has experienced with alternate sculpting mediums, working in molten bronze, beeswax and Plaster of Paris. The physical process of working with the materials becomes a performance in itself. The sculpture is the product of a tactile engagement with his medium. With celebration of sensuality as one of its running themes, his works is at once both intimate and universal in its appeal. A personal commemorative sculpture, with a scale and presence that holds well in natural settings, his work has found permanent home in a number of public collections all over the world. About the Artist and his work : Born : Born 1956, Kerala.
