Henri O’Connor, the son of an American father and a French mother was born in 1921 and grew up in Nantes, France. He attended the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Nantes and in the late 1930s, studied at the Beaux Arts, the Atelier de la Grande Chaumiere and the Academie de l’Arts et Publicite in Paris
“He was basically one degree removed from all of the great masters of the turn of the century,” David Deitch, a freelance art curator in New York, says of O’Connor’s education. “His teachers were associates of Matisse, Derain — all of the big players at the time.” The curator says that the influences of O’Connor’s teachers, which reflect the Fauvist style in vogue at the time, is apparent in his paintings, particularly some of his later work.
O’Connor and his parents and siblings left Europe at the beginning of World War II and moved to the United States, eventually settling in Sacramento, where O’Connor’s father had relatives. O’Connor was offered a job teaching art at the Sacramento Art...

Michel Fingesten. of an Austrian weaver father and a Jewish mother originally from Trieste. At the age of 16 he studied at the Vienna Academy together with Oskar Kokoschka From 1902 to 1906 he wandered around America, and then Australia, to then arrive
in Palermo in 1907. He traveled up the peninsula passing through Trieste and returning to Germany, settling first in Munich in Franz von Stuck's studio, practicing caricature and small format graphics and then in Berlin.
In 1913 he began to engrave. He returned to Italy in 1935 to visit his maternal relatives from Trieste and remained there due to the racial persecutions to which the Jews in Silesia were subjected, settling in Milan. In this period he engraved about 500 exlibris

"My paintings are all about light and mood," says Colorado native Gordon Brown. He never tires of the view from his converted barn/studio on the state's western slope, which allows him to observe firsthand the various moods and palettes of the seasons. Brown has come to appreciate the subtleties and drama created by changing light and regularly incorporates them into his work.
Brown grew up in Grand Junction, CO, and still lives nearby. Ensconced in his century-old home shaded by peach and apricot trees, Brown finds peace and inspiration in this bucolic oasis. From the balcony of his studio at the back of the property, Brown can survey the imposing Bookcliffs mountain range.
Brown made his first foray into art when he bought a set of oil paints while in high school. Although he had not painted until then, two of his oils won best of show and first place, respectively, in a high-school art contest. This early recognition sparked his interest in art and his desire to pursue a career as an artist. Brown also received encouragement from several established artists in the area.
