This is a hand painted 17th century, late Ming dynasty, porcelain Jar or small Vase which we attribute to the Hatcher shipwreck cargo, this piece being from the Wanli /transitional period, circa 1625- 1640.
The Jar/ Vase is fairly thickly potted with a very white glaze to the porcelain.
It is decorated with a man and a boy stood against a tree with rocks, mountains and flying bats in the background all hand painted in various shades of a clear under-glaze cobalt blue. The irregular shaped head, bald high forehead, and straight pencilled beard with moustache support this date and period.

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique German silver and glass jar; an addition to our diverse range of continental silverware.
This exceptional antique German 800 standard silver box has a circular shaped form.
The jar is fitted with a push fit silver cover realistically modelled in the form of a stemmed apple.
The antique glass body of the jar has a subtly panelled form and is ornamented with cut glass decoration in a geometric design, in addition to a star cut motif to the underside.
The upper rim of the jar is fitted with a hallmarked silver mount.
The hallmarks struck to the surface of the antique silver mount include:
National mark: Crescent moon and crown, Germany
Silver quality/purity mark: 800 (800/1000)
Maker's mark: WTB (untraced)
Condition
This antique German silver mounted jar is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The German hallmarks struck to the silver mount are all very clear.

This is a very attractive Art Deco period crystal cut glass bottle or small Jar with a sterling silver lid, handmade and fully hallmarked by Richard Owen Williams, hallmarked Chester, 1922.
The bottle or jar has a circular shape with vertical flutes that are hand-cut in panel sections.
It has a sterling silver top or lid with a domed top and reeded edge, which has been made by silversmith Richard Owen Williams and marked Chester 1922. Owen Williams was registered as a Silversmith from 1907. The top is fully hallmarked on the side of the lid for Chester 1922. It is nice to find a piece which is plain and not engraved with a monogram.
The lid is a very good push fit to the glass jar
