Living a hotel life may be the dream for some — hotel bathrooms are particularly enviable — but most of us, when pressed, prefer the comforts of home. Alexandra Champalimaud creates hotels that combine the best of both worlds. Troutbeck Lodge, run by her son and daughter-in-law in Upstate New York, is a perfect example.
In the library, cozy seating like a vintage chesterfield sofa from RT Facts and acres of books converse companionably with a games table illuminated by an Allied Maker pendant light, with every piece feeling special and loved. “It’s as if they’re all enjoying the pleasure of each other’s company,” says the designer. Just like at home.
