This Fall, Leather Blazers Are on Top

Today’s designers and it girls are bringing back the ’90s staple.

At the beginning of the 1999 rom-com classic Notting Hill, Anna Scott (played by Julia Roberts) walks into a bookshop clad in a Chanel beret, oh-so-tiny sunglasses and a sharp leather blazer. Although similar jackets made appearances across pop-culture genres in the ’90s — whether worn by Sarah Michelle Gellar as the titular character in Buffy or by Keanu Reeves as Neo in the Matrix films — Roberts’s outfit was the definitive cool-girl take. It’s the spirit of that exceedingly memorable look that today’s It girls are channeling in their re-embrace of the leather blazer.

One of the most influential dressers of the zillennial crowd, Hailey Bieber has given the garment her stamp of approval. Bieber, who is often seen wearing leather jackets (and clearly understands their power to transform a look), she recently sported an ensemble, shared by Who What Wear, that paired a double-breasted leather blazer with tiny sunglasses, black relaxed slacks and leather loafers. Jennifer Lopez was also recently pictured in a caramel-colored double breasted leather blazer, Elle reports. The publication notes that leather blazers featured in the Fall/Winter 2025 collections of several designers, including Khaite, Michael Kors and Ralph Lauren.

The diversity displayed by leather blazers in these recent lines characterizes their archival counterparts as well. A Saint Laurent example taps into the ultracool ’90s monochrome vibe, while a beige 2000s Loro Piana embodies an earthier palette. There are plenty of archival options available on 1stDibs, and the great thing about leather is that it only gets better with age.
