As one of the cochairs of the Met Gala, it was only fitting that Colman Domingo brought the heat to the evening’s watch scene. The actor wore an unreleased Omega Speedmaster on which very little information is available, aside from the fact that it’s 18-karat gold. Although fans of Domingo’s gala wrist wear will have to wait to try on that particular model, plenty of other Speedmasters are available on 1stDibs. Neutral tones ruled at this year’s Met Gala, but Pusha T went colorful with a burgundy double-breasted suit by Louis Vuitton, accessorized with one of the most delightfully over-the-top watches imaginable: a Rolex Rainbow Cosmograph in Everose Gold. The timepiece is radiant from afar and only glows more brightly the closer you get to its rainbow bezel.
Simone Biles brought the color, too, in a Harbison Studio blue-taffeta minidress with a dramatic train, although she picked to go with it a relatively understated Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Mini, which coordinated with husband Jonathan Owens’s stainless-steel Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar. “Mine is obviously petite, packed with a punch, and I feel like that’s a great representation of myself and my personality,” Biles told Vanity Fair . “So that’s why I love it.”
Both Tramell Tillman and Walton Goggins donned Thom Browne looks for the big night. Tillmans complemented his with a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Duoface Tourbillon in 18-karat pink gold, adding a touch of color to his otherwise all black-and-white look.
Goggins accented his Thom Brown ensemble, a skirt suit, with a Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Complete Calendar. If the evening proved anything, it’s that no great outfit is complete without a similarly splendid watch.
