If vintage fashion had a trading floor, we’d definitely put our money into archival Versace stock. Pieces from the Italian fashion house–particularly those from the early 1990s–just seem to get hotter and hotter. To wit, Miley Cyrus recently wore a strappy leather mini-dress from the label’s famed Bondage collection, purchased from 1stdibs dealer Resurrection Vintage. Cyrus’ dress is a prime example of what collectors are busily snapping up: early 1990s black minidresses with purposefully un-subtle logo treatments.
The trademark Versace approach to dressing–unabashed sex appeal and heavy ornamentation–feels as relevant now as it did 25 years ago. Which, all things considered, makes for a pretty good investment.
