This week’s issue of Introspective leads with a profile of fashion-and-design power couple Reed and Delphine Krakoff — and their many, many impeccably stylish estates. As writer Julie Belcove put it, “The Krakoffs compare renovating and decorating a house to telling a story.” Thus it’s fitting that Reed Krakoff would approach the launch of RK40, his new handbag line, with the same sort of visual-qua-narrative approach.
The RK40 collection — the digits are a nod to the label’s corporate headquarters — was conceived of as a two-phase exercise. Starting tomorrow, 20 one-of-a-kind bags will be available on Krakoff’s website, each signed by the designer himself. These ultra-luxe models come in uniquely-colored French leather and exotic skins. A broader collection will launch in mid-November, featuring three sizes of the classically-styled, carry-everywhere RK40. In a specifically Krakoff-ian touch, the designer commissioned famed photographer Steven Sebring to shoot 360-degree images of the bags (above). The photographer and designer will also collaborate on the upcoming Reed Krakoff SS15 presentation, which the label characterizes as an uncommon departure from the traditional Fashion Week viewing.
As with most things in the Krakoff world, we can’t wait to see how it turns out.
