French Neoclassical Exquisitely Carved Wall Console w/Green Marble Top

A French Neoclassical carved-wood console with marble top, from the 19th century. This antique table from France has an oblong demi-shaped (half-round) marble top with flattened backside, and a pair of shallow rectangular projections at either front corner to emphasize the legs below. It rests upon an elaborately carved wood frame with apron adorn in fluted and lambs tongue trimmings. A gorgeous pierce-carved floral garland is swagged about the front and gathers into a loop at front/center with bow-tied carvings. The two legs have robust volute carvings at underside of the top, are carved in similar fashion to the trim on the apron, and curve inwardly towards the underside of the table and terminate into nicely carved round feet. The legs are braced at their box and rose carved ankles with an oval-shaped platform base, carved with acanthus leaf accents and supporting a large three dimensionally-carved two-handle urn with acorn finial top. The marble is quite unusual and rare in color which is primarily green and blush pink. Note that this table is designed to be wall-mounted for safety and security. This Neoclassical French console...

This antique side table from Italy has a beautiful marble top with curvy serpentine front, canted and bowed side corners, and shapely sides, with a flattened backside (as made to rest against a wall). It rests upon the apron with elaborately-carved frieze in a shell and floral motif, with pierced carving embellishing the front center. The knees are adorn with carved flowers with tassels, making their way down the four elongated cabriole style legs, each with carved leaves and inwardly scrolling feet which give them a paw-like appearance. The marble is older, but likely not original to the piece- but a rather skillfully done replacement. The coloring is comprised of squash and umber tones with a slightly pinkish/salmon color. This centuries-old ceramic vessel from Thailand is an excellent specimen of a salvaged ceramic jar from a shipwreck during in the Ming gap period. This antique jar from Thailand, circa early to mid 16th century, stands just over 20 inches in height and has a rounded body, with a thickly rounded top lip, and set of four loop-hole projections arising from the shoulders (which would have been used to secure a lid at top). There is a fabulous texture about the jar, from the centuries of being submerged underwater, which has encrusted it with barnacles and tales of sea-life.
