This 30" Jadeite Jade, Pink Spinel & 18K White Gold Endless Necklace is a one-of-a-kind jewel created entirely by hand from 130 natural and untreated, hughly translucent deep green jadeite jade beads from Guatemala, each of which measures just shy of 5mm. 1.89 solid 18K white gold spacer beads that are faceted in four "bands" along each bead. This has the effect of reflecting light into the rich green jadeite beads and increasing their luminosity , but the beads also add diamond-like sparkle between each bead. The necklace has no clasp and is finished with a pair of natural, 5mm Burmese pink spinel beads.
Although I am not offering this necklace with a certificate from a gem lab, it is because I have bought an enormous amount of Guatemalan jadeite from this particular supplier, and I tested his beads for years; all were 100% natural and untreated. I am also a Certified Professional Gemologist, with advanced training in jade.

Though they have been classified as "pale green to near colorless" in the gem lab report, each bead is has its own subtle tone. True, from a distance the beads read as white. But then, step into the shadows and their subtle tones are liberated. The tones are there in the light, too: it's just that sometimes looking isn't enough; you need to look but you also need to see.

This is a stunning vintage pearl necklace measuring 18 inches in length and composed of 55 9mm-9.4mm round cultured Akoya pearls and finished with an 18K white gold beaded ball clasp which glitters with a multitude of small full-cut diamonds that total approximately .50 carats. The necklace was purchased in the United Kingdom but bears no hallmarks. It's very well-made and remains on its original silk, which still appears sturdy. I believe the necklace dates to the 1980s.
Cultured Akoya pearls over 8mm in diameter are the most coveted of all Akoya pearls because fine ones are difficult to achieve. The longer a pearl remains inside the oyster the thicker the nacre and larger it grows but the greater the opportunity for any number of variables to come along and spoil the pearl. Overall, the beads are a bright, fresh spring green. I would say "pea green" but that sounds so awful. In truth, the beads are the color of those hard and shiny peas that you see when you crack open the first pod of the season. But these beads are also genetically gifted: they contain little patches of shockingly perfect imperial green, deep forest green, and even a green so faint it reminds me of light green velvet rubbed the wrong way so that light reflects off where you stroked your finger over the velvet and the green velvet is now whiter.
Yes, go ahead and say it: the necklace deserves a finer clasp. But does it? This clasp is original to the piece. It was made by hand in the early twentieth century. It's silver and once it was gilt.
