It is designed in a style after Russel Wright for Conant Ball or Bissman. My mother (who is a retired interior designer and has been identifying vintage pieces since before I was born… and I am vintage myself!!) believes the actual style is a copy after Russel Wright but the construction leads her to believe it’s Bissman. It is not marked, but no matter, it is INCREDIBLE!! The design world calls these transition pieces… of the era when pieces transitioned between the Art Deco period and the Mid-Century Modern period, during the early portion of the 20th century. His furniture designing fate was sealed at 15 when hitchhiking to school he passed a storefront shop and studio on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles with pencil industrial drawings in the windows and fell in love with them. Kipp worked hard, turning down a track and field scholarship at USC and instead enrolled at Chouinard Art Institute in the late 1940s. Again, he worked very hard days and nights becoming a renowned artist, architect, and award-winning designer. He currently resides in Carmel, California and is still painting. Alexander Stewart Orton MacDougall was born in the late 1920s in Pasadena and grew up in a Green and Green house which he credits for his fascination and love of design. Judged early with a learning disability which he obviously overcame, Stewart attended Chouinard Art Institute after a short time in the Navy. Gorgeous antique Victorian tall Lincoln style full size bed in solid walnut and walnut burl with footboard and side rails. It is in wonderful original vintage condition. That does not mean it is without beautiful age patina of marks and distressing from over 100 years of use. The very top of the carved crown on the headboard had cracked and broken away and been lost over the years. But one of our staff artisans has hand carved a replacement. It is spectacular. There is also some new bracing to the back of the headboard to help with stability. Please see photos, circa mid-late 19th century. Wonderful campaign style modular wall unit bedroom or bed set up with side armoires comprised of dark wood, removeable mirrors, lights, full/queen headboard, and brass hardware by Thomasville Furniture. Take another look at this Extremely cool, Extremely modular “Mystique” wall unit or bedroom set up by Tomlinson Furniture. So many options…We say that because the center, larger unit can be used as a headboard for a full or queen-sized bed. You just need a Hollywood frame, and it backs right up against the headboard which has drop front storage for extra pillows or blankets! The four mirrors are removeable so if you prefer you could take them off and expose a blank wall or hang your favorite piece of artwork. Plus, there are lights at the top of the crown unit and a shelf to hold a lamp, books, or décor! Now, it’s nice to have the two side cabinets in your bedroom if you need the space for storage…there is hanging space in the top wardrobe area and three nice sized drawer’s underneath…AND there are knobs immediately beneath the wardrobe section that pull out into a nightstand surface with a black laminate top!! SO NICE!! BUT…maybe it’s a little much for the space you have, and you want to break it up a bit. NO PROBLEM! The two side pier cabinets are modular and can stand individually in separate rooms or could set side by side in one room. Maybe you want to use the two pier cabinets in a second bedroom and put a beautiful brass bed between them and use the center unit in a different bedroom. The whole unit is comprised of a gorgeous sultry dark wood and the cabinets have beautiful brass escutcheons, teardrop pulls, and hardware. There are truly so many interchangeable possibilities with this wonderful campaign style wall unit and it is made with impeccable quality by an iconic manufacturer. You just can’t go wrong! The original Thomasville furniture company was founded in 1904. At the time, it was called the Thomasville chair company since the company focused on producing chairs exclusively. Over the next few decades, the catalog expanded to include additional furniture pieces. Fabulous pair of small credenzas or buffet cabinets by A. Brandt Company comprised of solid ranch oak with a natural oak finish. Wonderful vintage condition. One top has a joint crack that had occurred from age, but it has been repaired, it just added beauty to the patina. Please see photos, circa mid-20th century. Yes! You are seeing double!! Aren’t these vintage ranch oak cabinets beautiful?? They are comprised of rustic solid ranch oak with a natural oak finish that is signature to A. Brandt Company furniture. The natural oak finish was made by sealing the wood, double coating it with lacquer, and applying liquid wax and Spanish whiting. Both cabinets have double doors that open to storage with a single shelf in each unit and a pair of drawers. One of the shelves in one unit is outfitted with pull-out wire hooks for hanging cups or barware. Plus, the doors and drawers feature the A. Brandt signature wood pulls. He wanted to be an artist from childhood and studied drawing and painting for a time but left his studies to enlist in the Army in 1942.
