Antique large circular Chinese Republican period hand painted framed panel

About the Item

This superb very large Chinese Republican period porcelain panel depicts a detailed underwater aquatic scene which is illuminated with golden sunlight. It shows numerous shubunkin goldfish swimming beneath flowering surface plants amongst underwater foliage. The porcelain panel is hand painted in thick enamels with fine detailing in numerous bright colours. The substantial porcelain panel is slightly over ½ inch in thickness and bears a red character mark in the centre of the reverse. It is beautifully framed in an equally substantial decorative black wood and gesso frame held in place with shaped metal brackets. This is a very decorative rare piece of Chinese porcelain artwork, circa 1930.
