A Superb Large Japanese Meiji Period Porcelain Charger, Circa 1890 This large scale Japanese porcelain charger is finely hand-painted in rich colours with applied gilding. It has panels with a foliate design together with exotic birds amongst flowers and swimming goldfish. All of the decoration has been enhanced with fine gilding. The back is also decorated with a simple design in blue and has a central signature. The charger has its original hand made wire wall hanging frame which is rare to find and useful for display. In good condition with some wear to the gilt rim. Circa 1890. Dimensions: W 47 cm (18.5") x D 6 cm (2.4") x H 47 cm (18.5")
