Antique Satsuma One Thousand Faces and Dragon Meiji Period Baluster Shaped Vase
About the Item
A very exquisite and elaborately detailed collectible antique hand made "A Thousand Faces" Japanese Satsuma earthenware pottery baluster shaped vase features intricately hand painted figures with fancy patterns and designs amidst a dragon stretching all the way around the vase painted in high relief. The rich 24 karat gold detail is opulent and captivating. From the Meiji era of Japanese history that extended from October 23, 1868 to July 30, 1912. Satsuma porcelain gets its' name from the region of Satsuma, Japan where the style orignated.
The vase is signed on the base. In very good condition with some crackling in the glaze and a mottled finish neck. See photos of hallmark and vase for up close details.
