First Half 20th Century Chinese Powder Blue Ginger Jar Lamp

About the Item

This fine powder blue monochrome porcelain jar/lamp was made circa 1940 and mounted in gilded fittings at the time from a 20th-century ginger jar. The jar may be older or it may be of contemporary potting to the lamping of the vase. The color is good and uniform with a very nice deep luster and firing to the glaze. The mountings are metal and wood gilded with red buille clay and burnished. The jar's lid has had a professional old repair now centered at the back where the cord is which leads one to believe it was an older vase that was then drilled for lamping but it is hard to say. Fully rewired and with a simple shade, it is ready to use. This vase and two other single powder blue vases have been in the same texas home for the last 40 years.
