Chinese Early 19th Century Powder Blue Glazed Gilt Overlay Vase

About the Item

This fine early 19th century Chinese powder blue glazed gilt overlay vase has a very beautiful and dynamic mottled glaze. The gilded overlay consists of designs of censors and vases that contain fans, scrolls, ruyi scepters flowering prunus branches and other auspicious symbols. The gilding is in very good condition as these often have much wear to the gilded surface since this work is done over the glaze. With no reign marks period or apocryphal, the vase does have an underglaze pair of combined blue rings to the bottom. The vase comes with a very nice old rosewood base that is beautifully carved and well proportioned that is from the latter part of the 19th century and retains a very good old surface with rub thru showing age and use. This vase and two other single vases have been together in a texas home for the last 40 years. The vase has been drilled but remains a fine decorative element without other chips or damage.
