An exceptional & monumental 22" pair of antique Japanese Meiji period porcelain chargers/plates, circa 1880. Each charger being finely & lavishly hand-decorated with underglaze blue & red iron oxide panels heightend with gilded decoration. The central circular reserve is decorated with a floral panel with birds, the outer decoration having four panels with prunus & foliate decoration & Japanese figures in a pastoral setting. The chargers also having red oxide glazed panels with gilded decoration & a pair of circular red Japanese mon symbols. The reverse of each charger having four handpainted floral panels with butterflies and a central floral sprig signature to the center. Both chargers are in excellent condition, no damage or restoration, the chargers come with a pair of custom hard wood stands. These are the finest pair of Imari chargers...

A lovely Chinese Export Rose Medallion large porcelain bottle vase and cover, mid to late 19th century, China. The porcelain vase of typical bottle form, with a rounded globular body and tall, narrow neck, and surmounted by a squat lid. The vase wonderfully decorated in the traditional rose medallion color palette of mainly pink, green and orange, with additional yellow, blue, black, and gilt accents. The design follows the typical rose medallion pattern of alternating reserves of brightly colored birds among peony sprays, and court scenes of figures in traditional . Between the reserves is a dense floral and foliate design with scattered butterflies against a gilt painted ground. The oversized cover of flattened dome design decorated with a dense floral and foliate pattern, and topped with a gilt lotus bud shaped knob. Exceptional Japanese tall Fukagawa Meiji period Imari porcelain vase in iron-red, cobalt blue and green on a stunningly shaped porcelain body. Fukagawa Eizaemon started the Koransha (Scented Orchid) company in 1875 and after his death in 1889, his oldest son, Yotaro succeeded him. In 1894 his 2nd son Chuji Fukagawa started the Fukagawa Seiji Company (1894 to 1935) with the mount Fuji and stream mark. Fukagawa Seiji company produced exquisite porcelain pieces for export to Europe and America that were highly regarded, cherished and celebrated. The Fukagawa-sei or made-by-Fukagawa mark appears at the bottom of the vase. This extraordinary vase with two decorative handles showcases a dramatic scene of bold spring flowers decorating the center part of the vase on one side and plum blossoms and birds on the other side, with a wide band in deep red with flora pattern and two kiku-mon or chrysanthemum crests in cobalt blue. A band in cobalt blue with two chrysanthemum crests appear at the center of the band. This mesmerizing scene attracts the viewer to approach and enjoy the details of this magnificent piece. The late father of the collector of this exquisite pair, who operated one of the leading kilns in the historic Imari-Arita region of Japan, travelled extensively to Europe in the early 1960s with a Mission that he led, to purchase and bring back to Japan antique ceramics...
