About the Item

Calligraphy, folding screen Material: Paper, wooden frame 1 piece: Width 590 x Height 1700 x Depth 15 mm Expanded size: Width 3580 mm Folded size: Width 610 x Height 1700 x Depth 105 mm, weight 12 kg Packaging (5 mm thick plywood sandwiched): 20 cm x 70 cm x 180 cm, weight 25 kg This is an excerpt from 宋代・欧陽修『相州晝錦堂記』 The entire content is as follows: “而至將相 富貴而歸故鄉 此人情之所榮 而今昔之所同也” This is the second half of the phrase. “He became a general in office, became rich and noble, and returned to his hometown. This man's honor is here, and he is honored in the same way now as he was in the past.” It's a tribute to a great man. The calligraphy is ink on paper, probably from the end of the Edo period. It was probably written by a monk. It fits well with the silver cloth binding and is a lovely gem. It is a beautiful gem. It is tanned and has some tears. Please understand that it is an old item. ※Please handle with care as the connections of the folding screens are prone to weakening. They are connected with paper, not hinges, using a special technique Please note that the outermost back is prone to sunburn, so it is in the condition shown in the photo.
