Gorgeous Chinese export four-panel coromandel screen featuring a courtyard scene of beauties engaged in leisurely activities. The lacquered panels are incised and painted in soft pastel color pigments that stand out boldly against the black lacquer. The bottom of each panel is decorated with vases and scholar's objects. Supported by straight legs ending with brass clad feet. The black lacquered wood has a rich, soft piano style finish. The back of the screen has four delicate floral foliate design scenes in a parcel gilt finish.
