Conjunto de paneles Chinos “Bambú”, Madera de Vernicia Fordii
About the Item
Very refined and beautiful set of three hand-carved and gilded wood panels, masterfully depicting the bamboo plant, made in China in the 1980s. The highlight of this piece is not its delicate oriental aesthetic, but the exceptional nature of its material: Vernicia wood. Vernicia Fordii, also called the oil tree or Tung tree, is from the Magnolia family and its oil is highly valued for its high wettability and antimicrobial properties, which have made it an ideal element for the protection of wooden pieces and the production of varnishes. The originality of the material, combined with the fineness of the design and the subtle reflections of its golden surface achieve a simple and elegant appearance, characteristics of oriental pieces so highly valued in today's market.
On the back of each of the boards you can read the following:
“VERNICIA – Carved wood / Hand-carved panel on wood (Vernicia fordii).
This wood, the Tung oil tree, known as the Oil Tree, belongs to the Magnolia family. Its oil has been extracted for more than two thousand years in China, and objects carved from this wood have been found since the 4th century BC. C. Its great flexibility and the regularity of its fibres allow the cabinetmaker to create the most daring shapes and the most minute details. It is used today for its qualities, thus achieving fineness in the drawing and reflections that combine dreaminess and surprising realism.”
These panels have been carved creating a sequence, thus creating an image that mixes the most refined dreamlike with the most outstanding realism. It can function as a central element, hung as decoration or integrated into the design of a room, as a headboard in a bedroom or as decorative panels for wardrobes.
