About the Item

A mid-sized six panel screen. Edo period (c. 1800) painting of a landscape features a temple on the mountain top, a river with fishermen emerging from golden mist, and depicts farmers crossing a bridge between tree covered hills and mountains. Beautiful application of gold dust clouds and larger gold fragments creates a misty effect in the atmosphere. Mineral pigments, gold dust, and gold leaf on mulberry paper mounted in a black lacquer frame.
