Japanese Two Panel Screen: Late Nineteenth Century Kimono Fabric Mounted on Early Twentieth Century Screen. In the Heian period (eighth century to the twelfth century), noblemen would hang their kimonos on ropes as a temporary privacy screen (and as a means of flaunting their wealth). Beautiful and bold patterned kimono with vibrant colored bamboo and mons (family crest) design.
