About the Item

Japanese two panel screen: Moon Viewing, painting of two noblewomen admiring the full moon outdoors. Extremely sophisticated execution of painting overlapping patterns and drapery. Moonlit flowers and grasses [including bush clover, nadeshiko (pinks), golden lace] surround the ladies. Signature and seal on the lower left read: Kodama Teruhiko. Calligraphy also dates the screen as 1976. Painted in mineral pigments on mulberry paper with gold and silver dust and a black lacquer frame. The reverse is finished in textured fabric.
