Bamboo vase by Chikuyu Uematsu.

Chikuyu Uematsu (1947-)
He was born in Tokyo. He graduated from Beppu Higher Vocational Training School in 1975. From the same year to 1982, he exhibited at the Seibu Kogei Exhibition and won the prize once. From 1976 to 1979, he exhibited at the Japan Traditional Arts Exhibition. In 1983 he moved from Beppu City to Kanagawa Prefecture. In 1993 he was selected for the Suntory Museum Grand Prize Exhibition '92. In recent years, he has produced many sculptural works that make full use of advanced technology, and are stored in museums overseas.
