Japanese antique bamboo woven basket/wall hanging vase/1868-1920/Mingei

About the Item

This is a woven bamboo basket made in Japan from the Meiji to Taisho periods (1868-1920). I don't know if the baskets actually used by farmers were repurposed as flower vases, or if they were originally made for arranging flowers, but it is a design of a basket for agricultural work. Due to long-term use, the bamboo has a nice texture that changes over time, from dark amber to blackish. It is very beautiful when decorated with flowers. I also cut a bamboo tube and prepared a simple water container. This item is in relatively good condition. It is difficult to find baskets with such good taste. This is a recommended item. Weight: 0.7kg [We offer Japanese antique furniture and tools that are different from the Japanese antique furniture and art that have been appreciated abroad. These tools were used in private homes and farmhouses in the past. They have been passed through a long time and have an attractive taste. The reality is that many of these items are now being discarded along with the demolition of houses. We are on a mission to re-evaluate these fascinating old objects and preserve them for future generations. And we have seen tens of thousands of items so far. We have used that experience to list the most fascinating items here. We can do this because of our long experience. We will rediscover the "beauty" produced in the life and culture of the common people, which is different from the Japanese art and culture that is known and scattered around the world, and present it to the world. ]
