About the Item

Large wood, plaster and pigment iki ningyō with glass eyes, depicting a Kabuki theater actor (probably Matsumoto Kōshirō VII, 1870-1949) as Benkei in the kabuki opera "Kanjinchō." He wears a cloth and silk kimono, holding the false register "kanjinchō" in his right hand and the Buddhist rosary "juzu" in his left. Work published in the volume "Selection 2024. Not signed Height : 120 cm Showa, ca. 1940.
