A very special antique collection - this long strand of Japanese hand-crafted natural wooden (perhaps Rosewood) Buddhist Juzu mala beads with customary larger "Guru" beads. These rosary-type prayer bead necklaces were often used by Buddhist monks in temple rituals and worn by Samurai as amulets of protection.
This particular piece features a wonderful, naturally organic patina acquired over years of handling and use.

A magnificent Qing Dynasty (1636-1912) architectural ancestral shrine.
19th century, China, exceptionally executed in traditional ancient Chinese architecture timber-frame temple hall form, exquisitely hand-crafted and heavily carved with intricate details on the sloped roof and throughout the frame, elaborately decorated layered front with Dougong interlocking wooden brackets over ornate relief carvings and latticework, partial raised gallery fenced entry, retaining some signs of faded gilt decor and lacquer throughout the structure. Large architectural model ancestor shrines were important religious items throughout Asian countries. Red wax export seal on the roof indicates it's authentic and was legally exported.
