About the Item

A very fine example of an Aldo Londi (1911-2003) Italian ceramic horse for Bitossi Ceramiche. Glazed in a high glaze yellow and a matte gray with a highly textured surface and rustic quality present in all his pottery designs. Circa 1960-1970. Guido Bitossi was the founder of Manifattura Bitossi e Figli in 1921. The company made primarily roofing tiles and then expanded to household ceramics and art pottery. Londi, along with several other notable designers and artists, came along and expanded the artistic output. Good overall condition with two very minor flea bites along the mane (see photo). No visible cracks, hairlines or restorations. Approximately 4.25" deep x 10.25" wide x 10.25" high.
