24-Piece Collection of Blue Niloak Midcentury Pottery
Located in Topeka, KS
Handsome 24-piece collection of bright blue Niloak midcentury pottery. They are all in fabulous vintage condition apart from the small glossy glazed Dutch shoe. It sounds like it is cracked but I cannot visually see a crack. The rest appear to have no chips, cracks, or chiggers, and very light crazing if any. Please see photos. We are selling this as a complete 24-piece set. Five pieces are not marked. They are noted in the list, circa 1937-1947. Holy cow! Blue, blue, my love is blue……! I had never seen this much Niloak in one place before obtaining this collection. And all in one color. It is so gorgeous! What better way for you to jump right into the blue trend in decorating. These will be incredible whether you display them all together in one place or scatter them about. Someone spent years at and put in a lot of love into gathering these beauties. Please see below for list and sizes. Niloak is a line of pottery which was produced in Benton, Arkansas by Eagle Pottery Company. Eagle was found in 1890s by Charles Dean Hyten and his brothers. By 1904 Eagle was the largest pottery-ware business in the Benton area. Then in 1909 Arthur Dovey joined Hyten, by then the sole owner, to develop an operation to produce art pottery. Thus, began Niloak. The name Niloak is the spelling of kaolin reversed. Kaolin is the main ingredient of porcelain. Niloak was and is best known for their Swirl pottery resembling marbled paper. Then in 1932 Niloak transitioned from hand thrown products to slip-cast and mold-pressed production which was spearheaded by Stoin M. Stoin. These 62 Hywood shapes were simply marked on the bottom Niloak. Beginning in 1939 new shapes were added that provided a lip and the bottoms of pieces were able to be glazed. Because of the war effort many materials were regulated which were used in the Niloak glazes and clay, so the recipes were reformulated. After the war regular production resumed and new bright glazes were used. By the end of 1947 Niloak was no more. List of pottery items with sizes: • Southern belle planter 10 H x 8 W x 8 D inches • Dutch shoe gloss glaze 2.25 H x 2.25 W x 4.5 D inches • Winged Victory swirl vase 6.5 H x 3.75 W x 3.75 D inches • 2-handled baskets 3.25 H x 3 W x 3 D inches • Rocking horse planter...

Victorian Porcelain Spittoon, circa 1880 by Imari, Japan
Located in Incline Village, NV
The mark on the underneath (see image) indicates that this spittoon is of Japanese Imari porcelain, manufactured circa 1880, and made specifically for the American market for the preponderance of bars and saloons at that time. These were popular from 1865 to the turn of the century; this is a particularly fancy and elaborate example. Note the copious and highly detailed and beautiful floral decoration to the inside of the upper portion of the spittoon; pretty fancy for something meant for spit and saliva! Fantastic and all original condition with no cracks, no chips and very bright paint in sharp colors of blue rust and pink, and meticulously painted in a floral pattern. Several of these would have been “stationed” in strategic places within a saloon. This is a wonderful piece of porcelain, and quality item of saloon and Western United States history...

Chinese Export Famille Verte Porcelain & French Ormolu Chinoiserie Centerpiece
Located in Los Angeles, CA
A very fine and large 19th century Chinese export famille verte porcelain and French figural ormolu-mounted Chinoiserie style centerpiece jardinière, in the manner of Edward Holmes Baldock (1777-1845). The circular-ovoid porcelain bowl or cachepot, maybe 18th century Jiaqing period (unverified), decorated with a blue and purple ground background with parcel gilt depicting pagodas, trees, mountains and landscape scenes, flanking scrolled handles issuing from the base and ending with a finely chased ormolu pierced acanthus rim. The two ends with a projected mask of Chinese Imperial lions or foo dogs, surmounted and raised on six finely chased ormolu masks of Bacchus satyrs flanked by seashell-like mounts. The Ormolu, circa Paris, 1880. The Porcelain circa 1800 (Maybe 18th century.) Measures: Height: 15 3/4 inches (40 cm.) Overall width: 21 inches (53.4 cm.) Depth: 17 inches (43.2 cm.) Edward Holmes Baldock (1777-1845) was a prominent London furniture dealer to the Royal Family, father of Edward Holmes Baldock. He was first listed in the London trade directories in 1805. That listing had him operating out of No.7 Hanway Street in London, where he was described as selling "china and glass". An updated listing in 1821 described his business as "an antique furniture and ornamental furniture dealer", and in 1826 as a buyer and seller of "china, cabinets, screens, bronzes etc". Between 1832 and 1837 he sold earthenware and glass products to William IV, and upon the ascendancy of Queen Victoria in 1837, sold china until his death in 1845. Baldock was one of the first antique dealers and is similar to the 18th century marchands-merciers Dominique Daguerre and Simon-Philippe. He was the father of Edward Holmes Baldock (1812-1875), a British Conservative Party politician, and of Mary Frances Baldock, wife of the philatelist W. A. S. Westoby. Moroccan Vintage Tamgroute Green Olive Jar with Handles
Located in North Hollywood, CA
Moroccan vintage, 1960's green olive jar, or planter with handles. Handcrafted by the berber people in Tamgroute Morocco. Great glazed earthenware with different hues of green and black. A pair is available, slightly different glaze, Top diameter is 10" inside opening is 7" D. Jar is 38" H x 20" D in the widest part. Wonderful green and brown shimmering that can be found only in south Morocco in the village of Tamgroute. The color and texture is a result of the particular alchemy created by the potters of Tamegroute and remains a family affair handed down through the generations. Each pottery piece is completely unique and no two are ever the same. Please note that the traditional method in which the plates are fired involves stacking which result in tiny ‘scars’ inside the plate and in the glaze making, each bowl is unique the beauty is found in the imperfection of each piece. Tamegroute pottery are true showpieces showing that even imperfect can be perfect. Tamegroute remains the only rural pottery in Morocco using oxidized copper which creates its famous green color. Its potteries are also the only location where you will find their unique forms. The process however remains much the same. Clay is dug up from the local Draa river banks, thrown by hand & fired inkilns built into steep slopes using a single firing. Vintage green glazed pottery...
