"Vine & Tendril", High Style Art Deco Sterling Silver Dish w/ Pierced Lid, 1940

About the Item

One of the most elegant and sophisticated examples of Art Deco silver artisanry we have ever offered, this dish with a pierced lid (originally serving as an ashtray) features a curling vine and tendril motif with fine, beautiful detail. The piece was made in 1940 by Erik Fleming's Atelier Borgila in Sweden, one of the country's leading silversmiths whose works are world-renowned, and can be found in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Cooper-Hewitt in New York, among many other museums.
