Extremely Rare Large Art Nouveau Group: Monumental figure of Flora with chin-length hair in a long dress loosely embracing the beautiful body, her right foot resting on a low pedestal and holding with both hands a large, heavy garland of flowers draped over her right shoulder, flanked on the left and right by two cupids, one standing, bow and arrow in his right hand, embracing the garland with his left, the other seated on the pedestal and placing one end of the heavy floral work on his shoulder. The group is based on a white, stepped rectangular base with frieze decoration, artist's signature 'Jos.Limburg' on the back of the base. Manufactory: Selb / Bavaria / Rosenthal Germany Dating: manufactured circa 1923 Material and technique: porcelain / chinaware / painted / glossy finish Design: JOSEF LIMBURG (1874 - 1955) was a German sculptor and medallist; attended the Royal Drawing Academy in Hanau until 1894. From 1894 to 1895 he was a pupil of Victor Tilgner in Vienna, and from 1895 to 1900 he studied with Ernst Herter, Anton von Werner and Gerhard Janensch at the Royal Academy of Arts in Berlin, where he lived until his death.
