About the Item

Meissen superb figurine group by Michel Victor Acier (designed, circa 1778). Pair of wine-growers: Male as well as female figurine. Designer: Michel Victor Acier (born 1736 in Versailles/France, died 1799 in Dresden). Acier was a French sculptor, having studied at Paris. He moved in year 1762 to Meissen Manufactory/he was an important staff member there, having become one of most excellent Kaendler's supporters. Finally, Acier was appointed as Head of Model Department in Dresden by order of King of Saxony. - Acier designed these figurines (MODEL F 80) circa 1778. Specifications: Pair of wine-growers: Both supporting themselves on a wine cask. Meissen young male wine-Grower: The lovely bright-haired wine-grower wearing a black hat supports himself on a wine cask having been laid on a tree's stump/he is going to turn the spigot ... The man is clad in finest Rococo garments (a sleeveless jacket, vest, shirt with mesh, breeches with white stockings, buckled shoes) Meissen young female wine-grower: The lovely bright-haired wine-grower wearing a violet hat supports herself on a wine cask having been laid on a tree's stump, too/she is busy with pouring wine into a glass ... The woman, too, is clad in finest Rococo garments (a corselette dress with apron and buckled shoes). Both figurines are attached to round earthy base with golden painted decoration at its edge. Marks: Meissen crossed sword mark of midle of 19th century/made circa 1870. First quality. Male figurine: model number F 80/former's number 122. Female figurine: model number F 80x/former's number 44/painter's number 30. Size: Height: 6.88 inches/17.5 cm. Diameter of base: 2.36 and 2.75 inches/6.0 and 7.0 cm. Condition: Excellent (there aren't any damages/any imperfections existing).
