About the Item

Sonia Delaunay for Artcurial, Rythmes Circulaires, Limited Edition Porcelain Plate, France, 1970s (No. 570/900) A vivid limited edition porcelain plate designed by Sonia Delaunay and produced by Artcurial, Paris, in the 1970s. Titled Rythmes Circulaires, the plate is number 570 from an edition of 900 and bears the printed signature of the artist to both front and reverse. The design is a dynamic composition of interlocking circles, arcs, and angular planes in bold, high-key colours—vermilion, cobalt, lime green, turquoise and black—set against crisp white porcelain. Delaunay’s distinctive use of colour and form exemplifies the principles of Orphism, the movement she co-founded, which sought to express rhythm and simultaneity through abstraction. Marked to the verso with: Sonia Delaunay "Rythmes Circulaires" Edition limitée à 900 ex. No. 570/900 Artcurial Paris A highly collectible work that bridges fine art and design, this edition captures the kinetic joy of Delaunay’s visual language in a format that remains as fresh and striking today as when it was produced.
