About the Item

This rare set of six place card holders (place card) by M. Buccellati is a tribute to the marine world, captured through the elegance of Italian silversmithing. Each piece is finely crafted in sterling silver and depicts a distinctive sea creature: a shell, a crab, a seahorse, a stylized fish, a lobster, and a lionfish. These miniature scenes rest on warm-toned, veined hardstone bases that enhance their unique and precious character. Blending decorative art with functionality, these place card holders reflect the refined craftsmanship and unmistakable style of the Buccellati house. An exceptional set for collectors or for elevating a refined table setting. Founded in 1919 by Mario Buccellati, the Italian house has become one of the most prestigious names in the fields of fine jewelry and silverware. Gianmaria Buccellati, the founder's son, carried on this tradition, elevating each creation with ancestral techniques inherited from the Renaissance. Each piece is signed on the side with “M. Buccellati” certifying their authenticity and prestigious origin. A rare opportunity to acquire a pair of timeless masterpieces, perfect for enriching a collection or adorning a table with unparalleled sophistication.

A wishbone, otherwise known as the furcular, is a forked bone found in birds and some dinosaurs. The main function of the bone is to provide strength between the neck and breast, to protect the creature during battle. The Ancient Romans perceived this bone as a symbol of luck which allowed the progression of breaking a dried chicken wishbone apart whilst making a wish; this procedure determined the person with the bigger half would receive their wish or have good fortune. This tradition has travelled through Europe and is an adopted practice in many countries. Condition These impressive antique menu holders...
