A John and William Ridgway antique part dessert service
About the Item
A John and William Ridgway antique part dessert service dating from the first quarter of the nineteenth century, circa 1815.
Each plate, dish and tazza has an individual painted floral hand painted design, true to life, with its Latin name written on the back of each plate.
The borders are decorated with grape and vine leaves in gold against a white background.
The service consists of 16 pieces. Seven plates , a lidded tureen and stand, two lozenge shaped dishes, two oval shaped dishes, a tazza , two rectangular shaped dishes.
Although the porcelain is not marked, the design and the quality of the porcelain indicates that it may very well be one of the earliest sets that came from the Ridgway pottery manufacturing company, when they first started to produce porcelain.
